How neat! The new Redsn0w lets you boot easily with custom boot arguments, maybe sysctl won't be read-only when changing it from the boot/kernel level
http://www.sinfuliphone.com/showthread.php?t=101583 perfect Christmas present for us jailbreakers :v: fuck yea bite sms.
Wait, do I update to 5.0.1 via iTunes first?
Can't update my iPod touch 4g from a tethered jailbroken 5.0 to 5.0.1, gives me error 3194. Any ideas?
Just had a huge mis-fit with my friend. I've never Jailbroken an iPhone before, and asked a friend to help me. He told me I needed to use the latest redsn0w, and then apply corona 5.0.1 untether... You can guess how that worked out... haha [editline]27th December 2011[/editline]
Can't update my iPod touch 4g from a tethered jailbroken 5.0 to 5.0.1, gives me error 3194. And do you have TinyUmbrella installed? Because 3194 is the generic error code if it can't contact Apple's verification servers or if it has received an unexpected firmware file. If you have TinyUmbrella installed, it switches the host file to point to Cydia's servers for updating and can result in said error. So make sure you have iTunes up to date, and if you have TinyUmbrella installed, make it set NOT to redirect to Cydia's servers under the advanced options. [editline]Now[/editline] And as cdlink14 said, giving a restore a try can't hurt.
Wait, do I update to 5.0.1 via iTunes first?
you can do that too, or point itunes to 5.0.1 fw if you dl-ed the fw. if you are on 5.0, just update it to 5.0.1. much faster [editline]27th December 2011[/editline]
Just had a huge mis-fit with my friend. I managed to fix it by setting it into DFU mode, restoring it via iTunes, and then re-JB'ing it. All is well now.

My friend had the misconception that it was tethered, and as such I'd need corona to untether it.

I love the feeling of freedom. Almost like I have a PC in my pocket!
I love the feeling of freedom. Almost like I have a PC in my pocket!
those who are long time jailbreakers (like me - since 2 years ago) will understand the motto " if it ain't jailbroken, it ain't a real iphone". check out the best tweaks for ios 5 on youtube, pretty sweet stuff.
I just downloaded this new fancy 5.0.1 and jailbreaked it and i was wondering what are the best apps/tweaks? Also what was that one called that allows you to change settings via tapping upper bar on your iDevice?

[editline]27th December 2011[/editline] I need help on updating my iPod, how do I use the firmware file I downloaded to update?
are there any siri proxies out yet?
are there any siri proxies out yet?
I have searched but I haven't found any in the wild, Speaking of which, I would love if someone made a Cleverbot proxy for Spire
Cydia force translates everything into italian or something and i dont have any idea what the heck am i reading. Any way to disable this?
My iPod Touch 4g is running 5.0.1 and i'm running the redsn0w jailbreak, but its frozen on "exploiting with limera1n". What do i do? this is frustrating as shit
My iPod Touch 4g is running 5.0.1 and i'm running the redsn0w jailbreak, but its frozen on "exploiting with limera1n". What do i do? this is frustrating as shit
Enter DFU, restore iPod with itunes, jailbreak again.
good looks, restoring it now when its done restoring, do i just put it into DFU again and run the jailbreak?
tip - complete the jailbreak and leave the downloading of tweaks for tomorrow. cydia servers are getting raped and adding sources as well as downloading tweaks are timing out and lagging, you are better off doing it tomorrow
good looks, restoring it now when its done restoring, do i just put it into DFU again and run the jailbreak?
yep. Also a few questions of my own. When I try to connect to my iPhone via open SSH (already installed on the iPhone) using WinSCP I just get a connection refused error. I've got the correct username (root) and password (alpine). yet it refuses to connect, any idea why? Also when I try to install themes (with Winterboard) it only changes the background, the icons and everything else remains at stock.
do i set it up as a new ipod touch or restore from my itunes backup? or does it matter?
Depends, if you have important data you wish to keep then restore from your backup. If you don't really care what happens to your data, then do it as a new ipod touch.
restoring it did nothing at all it fucking turns on during the jailbreak now
Oh great, Winterboard has some kind of conflict and won't install. I know that Cydia is going slow right now but Winterboard just won't install due to that. [editline]27th December 2011[/editline] And Five Icon Dock needs iOS 3.0 or below? Since when?
restoring it did nothing at all it fucking turns on during the jailbreak now
I'm out of ideas then man, sorry. :(
So of course after 4 hours i finally get the jailbreak to work, then it tells me that i have to do the "just boot for now" shit. So i do that and lo and behold, the piece of shit crashes.
