Anyone else notice that at 0:12 they plug in an iPod cable? Maybe just to show that iPods are compatible.
I think they were just tryin to show off the USB slot, it's Win7 and can read an iPod through USB, meaning it'll probably take other stuff in like keyboards or mice n shit, which would be pretty cool, USB hard drives etc..
Flash-based GUI ughhhh.
Don't like it? I don't think we have to use it, maybe installing another os on it is possible
Yup, HP's the largest computer producing company, and by the looks of the Slate, it's awesome.
Bullshit. how about DELL
Bullshit. how about DELL
1. HP 2. Acer 3. Dell Also lol http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Who_is_the_World's_largest_computer_maker
I'll consider getting one. Looks much better than the iPad.
1. HP 2. Acer 3. Dell Also lol http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Who_is_the_World's_largest_computer_maker
I hardly ever see any HP's
I hardly ever see any HP's
Because they suck but lots of people buy them.
1. HP 2. Acer 3. Dell Also lol http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Who_is_the_World's_largest_computer_maker
They have an answer and then correct their answer? What.
They have an answer and then correct their answer? What.
No I enjoy the first part.
Did you just say that Windows 7 sucks ass?
No, I said Windows 7 sucks ass on a tablet.
I think its worth
No, I said Windows 7 sucks ass on a tablet.
Have you used 7 on a tablet? I have and it was perfectly fine.
Laggy UI's really kill an experience for me, I hope they clean this up.
I'd play runescape on it.
I'd play runescape on it.
runescape requires java, java would be really bad on that.
So. its a net book without keyboard. REVOLUTIONARY! :downs: I don't get it.
So. its a net book without keyboard. REVOLUTIONARY! :downs: I don't get it.
It's not a netbook. It's a tablet.
Considering the last good tablet I saw was over four years ago and cost over $3,000, the Slate is really looking good.
imo the best thing about this is the fact that it's got an x86 CPU, meaning I can install an operating system that doesn't suck giant ass.
I really would like to see ARM processors get laptop and desktop integration. Then we'd probably get some nice Linux support for ARM architecture, and possibly Microsoft putting out an ARM version of Windows if they want to stay competitive.
If I got a tablet PC, this would probably be it. It looks pretty cool.
Flash-based GUI ughhhh.
HP uses flash for a lot of their GUI OEM crap, if you don't like it 99% of the time you can exit out of it. Usually it's really good though, so.
Yeah, even if HP does for some reason use some kind of brick to stop others from installing their own OS' on it, I'm sure there will be jailbreaks of some sort to allow you to use whatever you want.
I don't see how HP could lock down the OS, this is basically just a Tablet PC without a keyboard and mouse. [editline]08:11PM[/editline]
No, I said Windows 7 sucks ass on a tablet.
I'd like to disagree, Windows 7 has amazing tablet support out of the box. Way better than Windows XP or some shitty distro of linux would ever have.
Gotta start saving up
Bloatware will be bloatware. Apparantly there is two versions? One running android. And another with Win7.
Firefox :D
Firefox :D
Opera! >:( Would love a Slate for drawing and artsy type stuff. 5hour battery life is a bit bleh.
Opera! >:( Would love a Slate for drawing and artsy type stuff. 5hour battery life is a bit bleh.
iPad is perfect for that, plus it has better battery life.
It's not really. Drawing is typically done better with a stylus/pressure sensing, which is what I imagine this can do [editline]01:59PM[/editline]
I'd like to disagree, Windows 7 has amazing tablet support out of the box. Way better than Windows XP or some shitty distro of linux would ever have.
Yes but it still isn't great. Using a stylus in Windows was just painful, and it'd be damn near unusable with a finger
It's not really. Drawing is typically done better with a stylus/pressure sensing, which is what I imagine this can do [editline]01:59PM[/editline] Yes but it still isn't great. I want an Asus version of that, beef up the graphic capability and battery and youve got a fucking portable art cabnit. Take a picture and edit it on same device /jizzes self. All HP laptops iv scene overheat like fuck so im kinda shaky with this,
iPad is perfect for that, plus it has better battery life.
iPad has no pressure sens at all, no digitizer. The syluses used for iDevices are the biggest pieces of shit ever. And the slate has a possibility for pressure sens seeing as how it has a pen digitzer.
Meh, doesn't look as good as the iPad. The main thing I like about it is the webcam and the SD card slot but some gimmicky features like 1080P playback (on 1024*600 screen) instead of focusing on making the os better which gives the iPad an advantage.
Windows 7 > iPhone OS And how the hell is 1080P playback a gimmick? [editline]11:20PM[/editline] Also, will I be able to use it as my main PC? What I mean by that is run uTorrent, sync my iPod, hook up and keyboard and mouse to it when I want a more traditional feel.
