Huh thats really weird. DX versions always had big gap between them. Well let's see.
Good job OP, you're freaking out about "news" from rumor and speculation sites :bravo:
I just got myself a DirectX 11 card and now I'm about to get fucked in the ass by the market... again.
Fucked in the ass how? Almost all games these days still support DX9 cards. The real issue here is not the DirectX support, it's the performance of those cards since most of them are unable to run new games on any kind of good looking settings anyway.
In 20 years, DirectX 22. What? Wait in 2 years, DirectX 20
If you ask me it's developing slowly. DirectX 11 didn't even feel nor look like a real full release but rather an update to 10.
All 10 did was add tessleation (which was nice for some things i guess) And make the API 10 times more horrible
Devs should seriously consider openGL it already has stuff DX15's gonna have...
Microsoft should consider revising the DX and Win32 API's so they make sense, and aren't horribly written. Adding upon stuff that's already been beaten dead doesn't work. Just look at how modern day laws work.
Devs should seriously consider openGL it already has stuff DX15's gonna have...
I don't really know anything about neither OpenGL nor DX, but it's actually like Microsoft has gotten some kind of momentum. WP7 is getting "true" multitasking, which, granted, has been in Symbian for a long fucking time, but still, Microsoft has pulled of some things that has surprised in the last year, so they might even do something "fantastic" with DX. I do not expect such a thing, but I have some hope.
I only got a DX11 card 4 months ago, and my OS doesn't even support it Neither do most of the games I own [editline]15th April 2011[/editline] Halfway to goldmember AGAIN :suicide:
I just got a GTX 560. I wonder how it will handle this shit.
So if I understand right, DX11.1 would need specific hardware tailored around it? That sucks. As much as I doubt it, I can see this happening. Maybe current DX11 cards can be flashed. I'm still running a DX10 card :(
It sucks that DX needs hardware-level compatibility. Sucks even more that most games don't even bother using 10/11 features.
I don't give a fuck, it'll be a gimmick just like DX10/10.1 was. Only the odd versions of DX are any good...
They're pushing the new versions for 2012 so they're out before the world ends.
A good example of business. Push new software that requires new hardware
TBH i'm losing hope in windows & microsoft.
you have a DX11 with XP? why?
AFAIK Vista only supports up to 10
AFAIK Vista only supports up to 10
MS added dx11 support to Vista IIRC.
Hm, appears they did, and I'm already on 11 How didn't I notice this?
Creating consumer needs. Also it will probably rushed, and poorly built.
TBH i'm losing hope in windows & microsoft.
They have only gotten better since Windows 7, why?
No point in upgrading if games are going to remain console-ized.
If I make a commercial game, I'm going to make an "Xbox" version. the only thing on it will be a screen that says "To activate your PC copy of <game>, go to <website> and enter this key: 1337-42069-101"
I only hope that Dx12 will support raytracing... otherwise there isnt much more features they can add that people will notice
The Xbox 360 uses a modified version of DirectX 9 that removes the fixed function pipeline and adds some new features like predicated tiling. There are some other changes like the ones to shaders. I also know that the flexible vertex format doesn't have pre-transformed vertices. [editline]14th April 2011[/editline]
I only hope that Dx12 will support raytracing... otherwise there isnt much more features they can add that people will notice
DirectX doesn't change for the end user, it changes for developers (and hardware support too).
Hey, if dx12 is in the works, will that make dx11/10 cards come down in price ?
Hey, if dx12 is in the works, will that make dx11/10 cards come down in price ?
Only when a DX 12 card comes out. Which means DX 12 itself has jack shit to do with it because that's standard. New card generation. New prices.
now I'm about to get fucked in the ass by the market... again.
I'm confused, how does a rumor, about a API revision, that will take months or years to come out, that might require new hardware, that might have decent added features affect you and your purchase. You think Microsoft is going to brick 7 and vista because people have 'old dee ex eleven cardz lol' Really? Your card doesn't change based on this news.
I just got a GTX 560. I wonder how it will handle this shit.
Your card's DX version is 110 and it will stay that way. Join the club of pissed people. :( [editline]19th April 2011[/editline]
I only hope that Dx12 will support raytracing... otherwise there isnt much more features they can add that people will notice
DX doesn't have hardware raytracing yet? Wtf... I know I'm just giving in to the market... but it's consumerism and it stings people in the ass for moar $$$
