I had the strangest day at work. I'm a core-side developer. I do SQL, I do webservices, I do RPC. On our project team, there are other people to do the front-end code, and yet others to do the design. We're in the middle of a rather major overhaul of the second-biggest component of the system. I (and the site-side dev) have been bitching for months now about the broken interface design and incomplete specs. We finally got the redone design comps from the design guy, and they're still just as bad. I go bitching to the sales lead/project manager/junior programmer (yes, I hate this guy), and he basically tells me "if you think you could do better, do it yourself". I do it myself. After about an hour on the whiteboard, I call in one of the site guys to check over the design, see if it's missing anything or trying to do anything impossible. Not only does he have only a few quibbles, but he thinks it's a far better design than any of the preceding ones, made by actual designers with far more time. I'd comp it out for real, but GIMP has crashed three times while trying. Something with the text tool is messing up badly.
Are you just wireframing it out?
Per app passwords and 2 step auth isn't the problem, it's the fact it's being used to break compatibility with applications, seemingly on purpose. That's what's so fucking retarded about it.
Wait, was the issue that you cannot use your "normal" password with it if 2-factor isn't enabled?
Wait, was the issue that you cannot use your "normal" password with it if 2-factor isn't enabled?
No. The issue is a lot of applications (seemingly specific) don't support 2 step, and is being forced onto users. [editline]22nd March 2013[/editline]
Are you just wireframing it out?
My wireframes are always terrible, they always contain too much detail, where it mixes between layout and detailed design. Now, you know how thick whiteboard markets are... makes shit hard.
Are you just wireframing it out?
No, I was trying to the comps that were already made (which look almost exactly like the actual site), and shop them into what it should be.

suggestion: CIPWTTKT vLXVII: my arsehole's just like a pringles can, once you pop you can't stop not for any particular reason, just because it's mildly amusing and isn't some insider joke that turns new people away plus if this is the new title i'll post a pic of myself with a mug on my head
Has there been a 'CIPWTTKT&GC: It's pronounced "sipwicket"' yet?
Has there been a 'CIPWTTKT&GC: It's pronounced "sipwicket"' yet?
how does that make any sense btw? the letters are in the wrong places pronunciation should be 'Kipwututkut' because you get all the letters in there and it sounds vaguely aztec
how does that make any sense btw? the letters are in the wrong places pronunciation should be 'Kipwututkut' because you get all the letters in there and it sounds vaguely aztec
That's why the pronunciation guide is necessary
I start at Geek Squad tomorrow :v: First "real" job and I'm making pretty good money
Not really sipwicket content but holy shit, I found a store that actually sells Dr Pepper (and other awesome imported drinks and foods) for a reasonable price. That is rare as all FUCK here. Ecstasy.
what country do you live in where you can't get dr pepper for a reasonable price from any good supermarket/carbonated drink outlet?
Almost any country in the world
Almost any country in the world
HOW CAN THIS BE, gotta start a charity to get it delivered to starving children in africa bet there's somewhere with no dr pepper that's hoarding the world's supply of vanilla coke though, bastards
I live in the United States, I have all the resources I need to be fat. You guys are missing out.
that's some kind of customer IT support thing right? enjoy your spirits being crushed by about week 2
I've met the guys I'm going to be working with and I've talked with the General Manager and everyone there is pretty awesome.
what country do you live in where you can't get dr pepper for a reasonable price from any good supermarket/carbonated drink outlet?
Dr Pepper is pretty much exclusive to the US. Most places have them for $3.50 here, which is why it's so hard to get for a reasonable price. [editline]22nd March 2013[/editline] Your customers won't be.
UK's got it by the bucketful, it's in pretty much all shops that also sell coke. And @Doritos Man, your coworkers are gonna be nice because that's the only mindset you can be in and not slit your wrists after doing tech support for an extended period of time. Your customers are gonna be pouring coffee in there and wondering if they can get it replaced for free, seeing if they can take the screen off their laptop and bawling at you when you say it doesn't work like that, shitting in the keyboard, pissing in the mouse, bleeding in the joystick, snotting in the trackIR, ejaculating into the novint falcon, vomiting in the kinect etc - on the plus side there'll be a lot more stories for this thread!
I've met the guys I'm going to be working with and I've talked with the General Manager and everyone there is pretty awesome.
What type of qualifications do you have? I applied for the Geek Squad and didn't get anything back.
What is the difference between A: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10240&cs_id=1025501&p_id=9172&seq=1&format=2 And B: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10240&cs_id=1025503&p_id=9432&seq=1&format=2 Both are 28AWG, roughly same price, both redmere, both 50ft. One is "Ultra Slim" Other is "Slim
What type of qualifications do you have? I applied for the Geek Squad and didn't get anything back.
Well for one, after you apply, the next day you want to call in and ask if they got your application. But as for qualifications, I'm still a junior in HS but I've had an "internship" at a local church and I "worked" at a local PC shop. (I just sat and talked to the guy that owned the PC shop while he worked on computers, and I did occasionally help fix some computers, but I wasn't paid.) I told them that I've built my own computer twice, and helped 2 friends build theirs. I've taken Computer Maintenance course in school. I have my Microsoft Office Specialist Certifications in Word and Excel 2007. I told them about a competition I was in school for Visual Basic Programming and went to state last year. But the general manager, geek squad supervisor, and the employees that worked their all "knew" me because I went to a job shadow day for school and I talked with everyone at Best Buy and I told him I submitted an application the day before which probably helped a lot because it showed I was interested.
Not the questions thread, buddy. Get outta here!
THIS IS SO MUCH FUN the PC only mode keeps disconnecting though
I can't get the pc version to work and when I try to connect to my 3rd gen ipod touch, I get to the part where it asks for the code and I put it in and hit connect "enter the 6 digit code" Whatever I don't need to play it anyway

I have no idea how I lived with 8gb storage on my old phone. I already have 16gb filled on my new one.
Odd, most searches worked for me.
