• MYSQL Connection problem

I'm running Ubuntu desktop and I have installed Apache, PHP, MYQl etc. I have gone in and setup the MYSQL database needed for my Flood server. However once I started the server MYSQL comes back with this error:
Error connecting to DB: Lost connection to MySQL server at 'reading initial communication packet', system error: 0
Password and everything is fine, everything is over localhost so a firewall shouldn't be an issue (its disabled afaik anyway). I'm also using tmysql. Repost from other section.
Try reinstalling mysql.
Try reinstalling mysql.
Turned out that I couldn't use the IP and had to use the Hostname of my Dedicated Server.
Ah well the easiest way to fix that is to set the ip in the my.cnf file for mysql should be the line bind-address most installs will use localhost i.e. usually changing that to the network or server IP fixes connection problems though Granted for sercurity reasons it's probably not a good idea to use the server IP but if you're running remote connections from a game server hosted else where it's an option.
