I wonder if Microsoft really listen to their customers. They seem to do what they want and then try to convince you it's right. The new logo being an example, metro start screen another one.
They've never done a Metro screen for tablets and desktops, only mobiles. How the fuck are they going to know if it works for the general public without just throwing it out there and seeing what happens? Testing may get some results, but it won't be truly representative of the public opinion. Besides, forcing changes keeps the OS fresh, we'd still be stuck on grey bars and bland designs if MS didn't try to force the newer designs through.
I feel like the designer that made the new logo didn't spend any time on it whatsoever.
So does anyone know why most themes of bluepoison are grayed out?
Odd, they aren't greyed out for me.
Going to try and use this as a main OS for awhile.
I feel like the designer that made the new logo didn't spend any time on it whatsoever.
In my opinion it isn't half bad, but it really should carry on the color of the current one.
In my opinion it isn't half bad, but it really should carry on the color of the current one.
It would look better.
It would look better.
It at least still feels like Windows then
So I've installed W8. I really like the feel. Now just to fix this Res problem. (I can only get 1600x1024) I need to get my normal rez (1980x1080) Is the Nvdia driver for GTX 560 ti compatible?

The "fast as shit" boot times are BULLSHIT. Takes just as long to boot as Windows 7.
The "fast as shit" boot times are BULLSHIT. Takes just as long to boot as Windows 7.
Timed it on my laptop. From powered off to the logon screen. Windows 8: 13.7s Windows 7: 26.8s
Okay So I've installed the Nvdia drivers. But it won't allow me to use my normal screen rez. Are there any fixes?
Can you not set it manually through the nvidia control panel?
I can see it manually. But the problem is that when I select 1980x1080 it just reverts to 1680x1024 or whatever res it was before I selected 1980x1080. Another thing to add, is that it at first wasn't on the list of selectable res. I had to add it to the list via customize.

Whoops, Yeah 1920x1080 :v: This whole time I've been saying 1980 to everyone.
The "fast as shit" boot times are BULLSHIT. Takes just as long to boot as Windows 7.
Are you choosing "Restart" or what? Windows 8 is faster by a huge margin. And why do you suddenly think that it is "bullshit", while everyone else posts fantastic results? Sounds more like you bullshitting.

Windows 8 actually takes LONGER because of some 30 second timeout it does, when Win 8 is the only OS on the machine.
On a somewhat different note, I really hope they update Windows Media Center to be a metro application. I just realized how stupid it will be if I click on WMC from the start menu, have it go to the desktop, then have it open fullscreen.

You're counting the bootloader timeout? :downs: You are aware that's been in Windows for years, it's optional to dual boot in the first place, if 8 really is the only OS installed you don't see the bootloader, you can skip it by clicking an OS name, you can change the timeout period. Also it's not true at all. Just because you have a fucked up installation doesn't mean everyone else does. Desktop: 8: 25.8 (16sec power on to POST) 7: 43.4 (16sec power on to POST) [editline]18th February 2012[/editline] Windows 8 Developer Preview's expiration date has been extended another year: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2671501
is it worth installing as main OS? :o
I'd say it is. Once I fix this damn res problem!
Going on with Windows Media Center - I got bored after the post and made a mockup. Microsoft - if you're listening, PLEASE do this. Don't half ass Media Center. I don't care how many people don't use it. I do.
I doubt they're going to update media center. Videos, Photos, and Music apps take its place.
I doubt they're going to update media center. Videos, Photos, and Music apps take its place.
What about TV? They pushed it so much in 7 that I doubt they'd just abandon it. And didn't they say it was still going to be included with 8?
What about TV? They pushed it so much in 7 that I doubt they'd just abandon it. I could be wrong, but it just seems to me it'd be rather redundant. Not to mention how very little media center is actually used and with stuff like Netflix and Hulu Plus the TV recording in Windows will continue to decline from what is already a tiny percentage.

But if they kill off the TV part, the people with TV tuners will likely be really pissed (And I'm sure that there are quite a few of us looking at a large scale - otherwise they wouldn't have included the feature!) Who knows. We'll see in the months to come.
I think I know exactly what the new logo needs. Hm... I think I actually did significantly improve it.
