I'm not very good with laptop specs but i need one that can run autocad no problem.
I'm currently taking some architecture courses in college and we'll be making detailed autocad drawings and along with some 3d modeling with 3DS Max.
Running games can be a plus.
Price range would be 1000 CAD. Please use bestbuy.ca if possible.
Best Buy :barf:
I suggest newegg. Generally anything will run autoCAD its not very resource intense
I choose bestbuy because i got a friend that can get the discounts at bestbuy.
And won't 3D mode in autocad lag with alot of details?
It doesn't I use it a lot personally. I currently have a Core 2 Quad Core, You should be good with a good i5/i7. It doesn't have to be compiled so i'd look for a good balance.
Are there any brands i should stay away from? I'll go search around bestbuy site for a decent laptop.
Look for an ASUS. They make some fine quality laptops.
I have a i7 720qm, 4gb ram, and a 4650 and it runs autodesk inventor and autocad pretty well for a laptop. But you should get a firepro/quadro card instead of a 4650.
Just make sure you get 4gb+, a workstation graphics card, and a high processing speed. Autodesk is being lame and won't support multiple cores with inventor, and I think autocad aswell. Not too sure about 3ds max. So try to get the highest speed.
Although you can use multiple processes with the task scheduler, still not the same.
I'm sure you could pick up a workstation laptop for a decent price at newegg.ca
