This thing is so much better to type on than my G15 V2 was.
Rubber domes are god awful compared to mech's, arent they
My Meka G1 broke with a year and a half of warranty left. Don't buy one. Too gimmicky and for all the promises they gave it didn't last long at all. [editline]20th April 2012[/editline] Think I'll get a Filco next.
How can you even break a keyboard? In my 14 years experience with computers I've yet to break a keyboard or see anyone do it really.
I'm very hard on keyboards, I type with some serious force. Still a cheap 20$ keyboard lasted me longer than this one did.
Currently got both my Black Widow and my cheap ass Logitech rubber dome hooked up to my computer.. Rubber domes currently in the keyboard tray, Black Widow sitting up on the desk... Mum:"Hey use the other keyboard while we're out here" "what?"... /slide chair to side, revealing I'm using the rubber dome "How is that thing so loud?" Starting to think she's insane.
So, Filco or Happy Hacking? [editline]21st April 2012[/editline] Actually how are Leopolds?
HH for absolute Topre awesomeness. The Filco for indestructibility and the Leopold for cheapness.
http://www.auspcmarket.com.au/info/KE-FKBN104ML-EB2/1275/ 161 + shipping, may have to go with a Leopold.
Happy Hacking Keyboard seems like a gimmick to me. It's not THAT good to justify that price difference compared to other mechanicals.
Actually that's got blacks, blues + tenkeyless is 150. http://www.auspcmarket.com.au/info/KE-FKBN87MC-EB2/66/ Money isn't an issue but still 150 is a lot. [editline]21st April 2012[/editline] I bought it, nothing else to spend my money on for a while except fuel food and bills. [editline]21st April 2012[/editline] Sorry for taking up half this page by the way.
Ergg, I'm so confused, should I get the Black Widow or something else?
Something else. The BW has no features compared to other boards.
Something else. The BW has no features compared to other boards.
What do you mean by features?
NKRO and Anti-ghosting mainly.
Would the Das Keyboard be much better than the Black Widow?
Yes, yes and yes 10 thousand times.
Happy Hacking Keyboard seems like a gimmick to me. It's not THAT good to justify that price difference compared to other mechanicals.
Topre really is a dream to type on, there's just something about it, it is expensive though, I'd say $225 would be a good price.
Thank you very much for zero comments regarding my question! Anyway, got myself a used 6Gv2, it's amazing. Really good to use after a G11, just takes a bit of getting used to.
Topre really is a dream to type on, there's just something about it, it is expensive though, I'd say $225 would be a good price.
Still hogging this page but they cost $300 in Australia. From any sources I can find anyway.
I removed the leaf spring from the Q, W, E, R, A, S, and D keys of my white alps keyboard. Removed the tactile click and lower the actuation point to 50g so in a way they're pseudo cherry reds. Think I like it better so I'm going to mod the rest of the keys, though I will miss the click.
How do you know that actuation point is 50g? 50g weight or?
A US nickel is 5g exactly (within margin of error), so if you're in the US you can stack them on the key and it'll give you an idea of the actuation force within 5g.
David is spot on, the modded keys only took 10 nickles to actuate (50g) vs 15 nickles for unmodded (75g.)
I cant get used to this crappy dell keyboard after my old one. I make so my mistakes using it. Waiting on my Majestouch 2 to arrive is painful. [editline]25th April 2012[/editline] It's a public holiday tomorrow so it'll probably arrive the day after.
I swap between a Black Widow and a compact layout Logitech. Its a bitch swapping (typing errors for half an hour) but mmm.
I swap between a Black Widow and a compact layout Logitech. Its a bitch swapping (typing errors for half an hour) but mmm.
I have the same problem. Use a laptop keyboard at school all day, then i come home and struggle fiercely to type for hours afterwards. Only time i can type right is during the weekends, because I don't have the damn laptop messing me up the whole day before i get to my Filco.
The only solution is to bring your keyboard to school.
Maybe its different over there or something but I'm fairly sure I wouldnt be allowed to use my own mech keyboard at school Why are you walking around with a keyboard why is your keyboard so loud why do you need your own keyboard dont be stupid go to detention

I can't stand the shitty lenovo ones they have at the school. Nobody seemed to mind, plus it came in handy when my history teacher asked me to do some data entry for marks because his student teacher was off doing something else today.
I'm thinking about buying the Steelseires 6Gv2(I can get it for 70€) since there aren't much other mech keyboards around Estonia and its within my buget limit of 90€.
