[release]What is Android?[/release] Android is an open-source mobile device operating system developed by Google. It was originally developed by a firm known as Android, Inc. which was acquired by Google in 2005. The entire OS is developed upon a modified Linux kernel. In May 2010, Android's first quarter US sales surpassed the iPhone platform. According to a report by the NPD group, Android achieved 28% smartphone sales in the US market, compared to iPhone's 21%. With the introduction of Android firmware 3.0 (codenamed "Honeycomb"), Android is now natively compatible on portable tablet devices which has now been updated to 3.1. It's been all over the market share quicker than a tramp on chips surpassing all other mobile OS's within a few years. OP is a WIP
Another thread! Wooo! More droid goodness! I'll just repost my video of the Galaxy S II MHL Adapter (which is amazing)!
Proud soon-to-be owner of Galaxy S2 reporting in!
I must say, I read through the Android threads a lot, considering I don't own, and also not looking to buy a smartphone at all :v:
It occurred to me today that I actively use 3 android devices. I never included my Nook Color or my Nook Touch in my count before, just my Thunderbolt (CM7 4 lief).

Can't think of a good thread title..... "The answer is go to XDA, now what was the question?"
Hey, pyroCF, can I contribute to the OP? Also, about the case, I'll probably get the popcase as long as its cheap. Does the official case lift the phone off the floor surface? [editline]3rd July 2011[/editline] BTW

New smellth tread.
Love it when OPs have a sense of humor. Well done.
Threads are only 75 pages now? Wow. [editline]3rd July 2011[/editline] IGNhelper. You asked me in the last thread if your friend should get the DZ. How much is the original SGS over there? It's like 100x better. [editline]3rd July 2011[/editline] Also SA Spyder. Yah $30 for 6GB is already near bullshit territory. But it's a hell of a lot better than the starter plan which is $25 for 500Mb.
$298. I'll try to convince him to get it. Right now, he's got 2 things on his mind, either a desire z or a atrix.
Lol. If he can afford the atrix then by all means get it. The bootloader has been unlocked and the 2.3.3 update will officially unlock it.
Also, got a silicon case for GS II for 10 bucks. Should I go get something better or keep it? I still feel like getting a real case that can withstand damage. Also, couldn't find the case you showed, PRYO. The one with holes.

It's just the official Samsung one, check out Amazon.
You going to be dropping it daily? Why can't you hold all these phones? It's just the official Samsung one, check out Amazon.
I've had the same problem finding that case. I have looked on their website, ebay, youtube and amazon. Samsung Galaxy S II official case.

OK, so the Samsung official case looks like the case for me as well. Does the SGS2 need a screen protector or does the Gorilla Glass do a good job?
So that case is pretty good is it? Not too expensive either.. and it looks good. I'll be picking one up after I get my phone then. Hopefully bell will have it. What was the rumored date for the SGS2 release with Bell?

Oh god.. I can't wait!
OK, so the Samsung official case looks like the case for me as well. Does the SGS2 need a screen protector or does the Gorilla Glass do a good job?
PyroCF will tell you that a scree protector will ruin the loveliness of SAMOLED (or at least that is his reason for not getting one) but Gorilla glass gets tiny scratches from bugger all, so a GOOD screen protector is in order, not a £1 one from ebay
Should I get a Droid X2?
Should I get a Samsung Galaxy S2?
Fixed that for you. Yes.
Fixed that for you. Yes.
When are they coming out?
When are they coming out?
No date set for USA IIRC.
