Well one of my fans is dying, it's going pretty slow so that the other fan has to speed up a lot, is there any recommendations on what I should do, if not what is a decent card that isn't going to break bank? Edit: also seeing as i made the thread, I got a new cpu fan my idle temp is about 38-40c and when playing the witcher 3 it went to about 61 is that an ok temp under stress?

I figured something was loose in the fan cause the motor was fine but the fan itself seems to freewheel so i opened up the fan and the culprit was some plastic washer that broke at the end of the fan bar (idk how to explain it) i had a machinist friend get me a replacement plopped it all together and still worked till i upgraded it a few months ago. your cpu temps seem normal as well
I'll have a go at that but just incase, can anyone recommend a decent card that's not going to kill my bank lol
What's people's thoughts on the 1060 3gb version?
What's people's thoughts on the 1060 3gb version?
Not worth it at all, if you're going to be upgrading go for the 1060 6GB or 1070. The 1080 is overkill unless you're wanting 4k or a high refresh rate.
What's people's thoughts on the 1060 3gb version?
as flak said the 6gb is just plain better. more video memory, and more memory bus. I have the zotac amp 1060 6gb and as i dont have a 4k monitor it runs everything i throw at it decently in 1080p its a very decent mid ranged card. As for best bang for your money id still say 1070.
I could possibly stretch for the 1060 6gb, i'm assuming it's an overall better card than the 970, well more vram obviously helps but all the other stats?

my head is exploding from the decisions haha [editline]5th September 2017[/editline] I'm looking at the 1070, I do have savings and stuff and can afford a decent card, it's just if I should haha also i'm kinda worried about the sizes of the 1070, some people said they had to mod the cases to get it to fit and my case only has single slots in the back for it to fit?

My 1080 fit in my HAF 912.

The VRAM isn't even the only consideration, the 3gb is a straight up cut down card from the 6gb, overall slower.
970 to 1060 isn't really worth it, get a new fan and wait for the price of the 1070 to drop, 970 still has a lot of life left in it if you're gaming at 1080p 60Hz.
Just found out the card is still under warranty, had it since like 2015 so thought i was screwed but sending it back tomorrow to ebuyer to see if they can repair or not, so thank god, if they can't repair they'll replace it but I'm pretty sure they don't sell my card anymore,so they'll refund, which I'd rather they do lol, £270 back which can go towards another better card
Sorry for the bump but turns out I'm getting a refund, I'm thinking abouy going for the 1070, is that card an improvement over the 970?

There won't be a single title you can't max out in 1080p and still get 60+FPS. (though that also depends on your CPU of course)
Will work just fine for 60FPS gaming
That's all good for me then
Nevermind lol,it's a u.s site, so taxes and shit adds up
If you can add an additional £100 to your budget: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01IPVIIAY/?tag=pcp0f-21 Otherwise: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/asus-geforce-gtx-1060-dual-oc-6144mb-gddr5-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-40i-as.html More memory than your 970, but otherwise performs about the same, but hey, not only do you get it for free, you actually get some money over from the refund.

It's worth the extra cash.
So if i bought from amazon all I'd have to do is register my card with evga right?
Yeah, you can do it on their website. I didn't even register mine until it broke, so you don't have to register it until you have a problem but I am doing from now on just in case, I got mine from Scan so as long as it's EVGA you're golden.

Actually I wouldn't have ordered that one, it's not that great. [sp]jk jk let me know how you get on[/sp]
I've been using a 1070+4690k for a few months and it's been absolutely great with every game I throw at it. I think you'll be very happy with it.

Finaly got it up and running haha, never had such a stressful time with a graphics card, I somehow misplaced a power cable, so I obviously couldn't power the card up, so had to order one from cooler master, then sorting some cables out my 1TB hdd decided to die and I lost a load of games(luckily it's only steam games so easy to re-download) but I still have a few games on my ssd, and my god, Dishonored 2 runs great, The Witcher 3 at 60fps everything ultra and pubg at 60 sometimes dips to 55 but that's fine, the only problem is my PSU is making strange noises, kinda like a ticking noise but I think it's just coil whine as when in game the nosie changes when I look around(correct me if i'm wrong about that) so not too much to worry about
