Owned. Can't wait to put ScummVM on there.
Was hoping it would take a little while so I could use the "I'll wait until it gets jailbroken" excuse long enough to save enough money so I wouldn't feel bad buying one. :v:
frankly speaking the main incentive to get the ipad 3 over the now 100 usd cheaper ipad 2 is the retina screen. the a5x processor and extra half gb ram were needed to power the retina screen. battery life is the same, everything else is the same. so if you are alright with the ipad 2 screen and the a5 ( still pretty decent) processor, i strongly recommend getting it. plus it is 100 cheaper too. it is still comparable to most of the other tablets on usability, overall. Specs aren't everything.
Not jailbreak-related, but I upgraded to 5.1 a few days ago, and I have to say it really DID help with my battery issues. Before I'd lose 10% over night (~8 hours), but now I only lose like 1% if I'm unlucky. If I don't use my phone except for music for the whole day I can leave home with 100% charge and come home with 94%. Hooray!
so i'm running Boxor HD on Dreamboard, and the whole lockscreen shtick is confusing me. the dreamboard themes come with their own lockscreen, yet when i disable the stock slider, it only asks for a password and skips the lock that came with the theme. how do i make it so the included lock actually has a purpose?
Heya Jailbreaking megathread, I'm in a bit of a pickle and I need some help. I have an iphone 4 jailbroken with redsn0w (firmware 5.0.1) (or ultrasn0w cant quiet remember) and the lock/power button is stuck, it will not move at all. Now this is all fine and dandy I was going to bring it into the apple store, but would require a restore first because I'm pretty sure once you jailbreak your phone you void your warranty yes? My phone also contains photos of sentimental value that I wish to keep, now if this wasn't just the recipe for the perfect storm the day before my appointment with the apple store my phone has seem to "froze" the screen is blank, holding the home button for whatever length of time does nothing, plugging it in does nothing itunes won't detect it either. The only time something like this has happened before is when I was using facebook and my phone froze up in a similar matter, I just waited for it to die then plugged it back in, I don't know if this is still the case because the screen is blank. Hopefully it will die but I hope it isn't something worse :( Does anyone know how to reset a phone without the power button or it even being registered in itunes?

Hey guys, didn't want to make a thread about this but I got my 4S a few weeks ago on contract (UK). Can I jailbreak within my contract without any side affects?
is there anyway i can get the grooveshark site to work without using the app? possibly making the site believe you are connecting from a computer, not a mobile device.

The html5 version is in beta. The desktop version uses flash so it won't work on the iPhone even if you use the desktop website. The only other option is to jailbreak and install the official Grooveshark app
So when my friend jailbreaks it gets stuck at the waiting for reboot on redsn0w and just boots normally and when he uses a ispw it has the error can't connect giving up
I just got an iPhone 4S and it was already at 5.1 when I got it. I thought they came with 5.0.1 so I guess the AT&T guys did it. About how long do you guys estimate I will have to wait for 5.1 to be cracked so I can jailbreak it?
Hopefully not long. That screenshot I'd posted up there is 5.1 on the new iPad so chances are the same exploit will work for most devices.
tried to jailbreak a ipod 4g 5.1 with redsnow, tried to get redsnow to recognise it with DFU or whatever and it didn't worked, so I restored it via itunes and tried again. Second time it recognised it but through the install i got "unexpected error" and the failed, now when I try to restore my ipod with itunes it just gives me the 1600 error. And if I try do anything with redsnow it gives me unexpected error. anyone help me please? edit: nevermind, i'm a moron. just needed to hold down the home and power button to kick it out.
Just posted this on reddit, perhaps you guys can help me too.
I do not currently have a home computer. Is jailbreaking something I can still do, or is a computer required? A long time ago I jailbroke my old iPod Touch, and I needed to SSH like 90% of the things I wanted on it. Which is fine and not a problem, provided I have a computer. However, I currently don't. (Writing this from my phone, conveniently.) Mostly I want to jailbreak for aesthetic purposes, although certain Cydia apps have caught my eye. How much can I change within the confines of my phone?
On that note, assuming this is, in fact, something I can do, can someone walk me through it? :< I'm not good with apple products.
I don't think you can jailbreak without a computer unless you have a software version that supports that www.jailbreakme.com website.
Actually...I do have a computer I can use. It's not mine, but it should work. Any tips? :D i am not a clever man.
Version: 5.1 Firmware: 04.12.01
sorry you're on a version that has no public untether jb. in other words you need to wait for it to come out as a tethered jb isn't worth it imo
Can't I downgrade or something to one with an untethered? [editline]28th March 2012[/editline] Now that I think about it though, I never turn my phone off. Ever. So maybe being tethered isn't that bad.
So I'm going to buy an Ipod touch today after having this 1st gen Ipod Nano for so long but i just saw this is this legit? that I should just buy the 32gb version and wait for that or buy the 64gb version and not bother.
Why do you need so much space?
That honestly looks like such an inconvenient thing to carry around. I certainly wouldn't want it like that in my pocket, and constantly plugging it in and out would get annoying.
Guys, any idea why my wifi is suddenly slower than edge? I just installed winterboard and rebooted, and ever since then it has been thi s slow. I already uninstalled winterboard but it didn't help. I also tried resetting the network settings but that didn't help either.

Bought a new ipod yesterday after my dumbass friend dropped my old one into the lake. It has 5.1 fuck me are there any estimates of when an untethered jailbreak will come out for 5.1?
Soon, hopefully.
