I gotta say, some of these commands have no reason to be in an mp3 player. Why do I wanna know the cheapest price of gas in my area while I listen to Alex Jones do an impression of an old man? Or the weather. Or open notepad.
Why not :D
Why not? If you don't want to use continuous play-mode lol
Okay but really, why the weather, tweet, gpu, ram, forecast, regedit, and countless others? Why did you feel the need to have the program's default behavior announce when the user is closing it. [editline]12th March 2012[/editline] When I close the program, it should not go
FunnyGamer [STEAMp3] Offline: [2]
What ever made you think this was a good idea?
You should probably remove or turn all those useless addons into some kind of plugin pack on the site, and focus on the rest of the program's faults before doing anything else like adding a command to order pizza and tell me what year it is.

Was my only way of advertisement before I posted this thread lol [editline]12th March 2012[/editline] I plan on adding alot more commands in the future, useful and otherwise. I use notepad daily so the notepad command is useful for me :P Lots of people find the weather/gas/tweet commands very useful. Trusted plug-ins are hosted on my site and available to everyone. I wish there was a command to order pizza, now I would use that
Unless you find a way to make it work in a game overlay (like in the Steam overlay) then this program is pretty much worthless. [editline]12th March 2012[/editline] I mean it's good that you have a practice app but usually not a good idea to release your practice app

[editline]12th March 2012[/editline]
Unless you find a way to make it work in a game overlay (like in the Steam overlay) then this program is pretty much worthless. [editline]12th March 2012[/editline] I mean it's good that you have a practice app but usually not a good idea to release your practice app
Not really a practice app just something I made for fun. I've been programming for almost 10 years. I've worked on tons of other projects Steamp3 is just one of them. I admit it has a few bugs but people on fp will never be satisfied lol I do plan on adding an overlay, I know how to hook into the d3d dll's but I don't want to add anything to Steamp3 that will trigger Valve Anti-Cheat.
It only advertises the name when it loads and unloads, not every single command.
So approximately every 3 minutes, then? THAT's not obnoxious.
Why would you load and unload steamp3 every 3 minutes? I've ran it for 10 days straight with no exception errors.
Let me be clear: Every time it changed song, it displayed a notification in chat. So on an average of every 3 minutes, I was telling everyone HEY GUYS LOOK AT ME.
Let me be clear: Every time it changed song, it displayed a notification in chat. Settings tab > Enable Silent mode [editline]12th March 2012[/editline] I understand it may be annoying to some, I can add an option to only scroll when a command is typed. I think that will solve some of the "spamming"
I think it needs an option to only turn off song notifications.
E:This is actually my mistake: it just doesn't read the data in .m4a files! How convenient!
I think m4a uses ID3v2.4, currently Steamp3 only supports 1.0-2.3, I'm working on a fix now. [editline]12th March 2012[/editline]
I think it needs an option to only turn off song notifications.
Ok good idea, I'll add it in the next update :D
Also, I can't seem to figure out how to download the plug-ins on your site. I think their buttons are broken or something. Besides that, I really love this program. Edit: It might also be useful to have a <language> to English translator. Edit 2: Is there a reason why all my songs show up with their default filenames?

I'll add direct links soon to the dll and source code for each plug-in. Are your songs mp3 files? It looks like they don't have ID3 tags. Steamp3 will try to guess the artist and title based on the filename if no tag is found. For this to work properly, the file must be named in one of the following formats: {Title}.mp3 {Artist} - {Title}.mp3 {Artist} - {Album} - {Title}.mp3 {Artist} - {Album} - {Track} - {Title}.mp3 Edit: The red text means there was either an error parsing the ID3 tag, or the file was not found on the machine. Try refreshing the playlist to resolve this issue.
Let me be clear: Every time it changed song, it displayed a notification in chat. So on an average of every 3 minutes, I was telling everyone HEY GUYS LOOK AT ME.
Hm? It only displays the song name in chat if you change the song using commands, it's never shown a notification in chat to tell everyone what I'm listening to every 3 minutes.
this program is the most annoying thing in group chat, I don't want to know about useless shit people are listening to
I'm adding a "Scroll song notifications" setting to the next update that addresses this issue. Thanks for all of the feedback, positive and not so positive lol. I'll try my best to add/fix all of the features suggested here.
Holy shit it can translate languages.
Would it be possible to add a "Open xxx in yyy browser" for the radio stations and add your own custom streams via .pls files?
Why not :D
` You're evidently just padding the fuck out of your program because otherwise it's not really superior to Itunes or Foobar or anything.
Will you be adding fortune?
Why not take advantage of the web browser in the overlay for input? You could do a proper UI and all
` You're evidently just padding the fuck out of your program because otherwise it's not really superior to Itunes or Foobar or anything.
I never said Steamp3 was superior to itunes or foobar, It has alot of features people use on a daily basis, just because the twitter command is pointless to you doesn't mean it's pointless to everyone. Steamp3 was not designed to replace your default media player, its purpose is to replace outdated programs like hlss/hldj. I'm going to add playlist and shell support so you can import/export playlists from your default media player (itunes, wmp, foobar, winamp etc) [editline]13th March 2012[/editline]
Would it be possible to add a "Open xxx in yyy browser" for the radio stations and add your own custom streams via .pls files?
Yeah its possible, right now it only opens urls in your default browser but I can add that option. You can add your own streams by right clicking the station list and selecting "Add Radio Station". Steamp3 can stream .pls and .m3u files but it works best with Shoutcast stations. [editline]13th March 2012[/editline]
Why not take advantage of the web browser in the overlay for input?
` You're evidently just padding the fuck out of your program because otherwise it's not really superior to Itunes or Foobar or anything.
Yeah, make it do one thing (play music) and make it do that well. Leave the rest as optional plug-in's
Yeah, make it do one thing (play music) and make it do that well. Leave the rest as optional plug-in's
That's the main reason I added the SDK and plugin support, so I can deliver content to users without adding it to the program itself and having to release an update. Steamp3 is under 2.5MB in size I don't know why people are saying its bloated.
Steamp3 was not designed to replace your default media player, its purpose is to replace outdated programs like hlss/hldj.
Um, wasn't the whole point of hlss and hldj to play music over your mic so other people on the server can hear it? Can your program even do that?
Um, wasn't the whole point of hlss and hldj to play music over your mic so other people on the server can hear it? Can your program even do that?
Yes, and yes. There are a few different ways to record music over voice chat with STEAMp3.
I figured that would have been in the features section of your webpage if that's what it's mainly meant for, but it's not, so I thought it didn't do that.
That's the main reason I added the SDK and plugin support, so I can deliver content to users without adding it to the program itself and having to release an update. Keep it simple and bare metal and have it live up to it's name, no more. Use plug-ins for fancy-pancy shit like translating or locating cheapest gas in your area.
