Current setup, even though something is slowly killing the 960
Return that R9 390 while you still can and buy a 970 like I did. (Even tho ended up buying refurbished 980 http://www.evga.com/products/bstock.asp)
8GB VRAM > 3.5 GB VRAM, and performance-wise the 390 still edges out the 970 in nearly every real-world benchmark. Why would I piss money away on an inferior card? [editline]10th December 2015[/editline] Also the ethics of buying from a company that lied about their products and pays game developers to insert code into their games that runs like shit on competitor's hardware.
I spent $350 over the Black Friday to turn my nearly 5 year old PC into this, along with a CPU cooler. Not too bad of a deal to bring it up to speed in the cheapest way possible, without going used, anyway It even runs AC:Unity smoothly. That's how you know the shit is decent. Next up on the upgrade list, storage. And hopefully fixing my LG monitor
i never posted the bragshot for my new toy did i This computer used to be a bitcoin miner, but the previous owner heard I was trying to play Fallout 4 on a Core 2 Quad and a GT 530 and said "fuck that, I've got this computer I'm not using for anything anymore". And it works pretty well. CrossFire is on, Speccy just a shit [editline]10th December 2015[/editline] specifically, the cards are 270s
Seems like an odd choice of CPU for a mining rig
Seems like an odd choice of CPU for a mining rig
she was just going for "cheap" at the time because she actually had four R9 270s doing all the mining then she got an ASIC when those started being a thing because she was working on some big project for miners

You're going for least amount of power used. Most miners run a celeron dual core.
Still rocking my 2011 sandy setup, with some changes along the way.Still not convinced to upgrade cpu/mb/memory..
[t]http://i.imgur.com/86vodOr.png[/t] it's pretty funny seeing those monitors on this system, but i've already spent too much money at once with this thing. i'm going to have to upgrade those later.
My build from late 2013, the only changes I've made are the new 4GB RAM sticks i bought a couple of weeks ago and a 250GB Evo 850 SSD that SHOULD arrive this afternoon (Don't ever trust spanish shipping compaines. Ever.) Oh and some Corsair case fans because the stock ones were pretty bad. -Intel core i5-3570k @4.3GHz (OC) -EVGA GeForce GTX 770 SuperClocked 2GB ACX -Asrock Z77 Extreme4 -G.Skill Sniper DDR3 1866 PC3-14900 16GB 4x4GB -Samsung 840 Evo series 120GB SSD -Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 1TB -Zalman Z11 Plus Also, is it just me or did a fuck ton of people get the 3570k/GTX770 combo? I've seen a lot of builds rocking those two together.
Build from Nov. 2013
I'd kinda like to know some more.. Are those temps taken fresh after booting, and I suppose the time of the year isn't the hottest either? [editline]16th December 2015[/editline] Pretty nice though, couldn't be cooler without water-coolers.. do people even use those anymore?
I'd kinda like to know some more.. Are those temps taken fresh after booting, and I suppose the time of the year isn't the hottest either? [editline]16th December 2015[/editline] Pretty nice though, couldn't be cooler without water-coolers.. do people even use those anymore?
Na my computers been up now for nearly 12 hours but those were idle temps and I have a 212 evo with sp120's in push pull a bit overkill for non unlocked cpu but eh I like the look of it and its not hot here but its not cold cold either about 50-60f outside today a bit cooler now since its dark. After playing gta v for about an hour my cpu runs about 45c, gpu at 58c and the mobo has never really risen ever and storage is kinda hit and miss can be cool most the time but can get kinda warm as well. I did switch thermal compound on cpu and gpu to mx4 paste about 7 months ago other than that and cleaning it once every few months not really much I guess I got lucky on my temps everyone else seems to have higher temps than me granted they have went up in idle and load since I first got it but only by like 5c.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/AwIrIJJ.png[/t] My "HTPC" build. Its really just a gaming rig I slapped together from random leftover parts and an IBM Thinkcenter M50 case so it fits on a shelf. So the airflow is....odd but its really quiet. EDIT: Apparently my screenshots decided to be fuckhuge.

Even after gaming/load, GPU will cool down to about 37 celsius, with 0 fan RPM. Processor has never gone above 65c on load either, which is pretty nice. Calls for overclocking really.

My build is officially updated to modern standards :v: [T]http://i.imgur.com/GGiClhK.png[/T]

love that my bios runs ram at 667mhz...
So is my RAM running at 668.5 MHz DDR (1337MHz) not normal then? [t]http://i.imgur.com/P84ZKbz.png[/t] Speccy rounds down so that 666 is actually 666.5 which makes 1333 and your BIOS is rounding it up to get 667.
