Is anyone using Windows 8 as their primary operating system? It runs great on my Macbook in Parallels (better than it did with Windows 7), and I was wondering if I should install it on my desktop that I only use for gaming.
Shouldn't this thread a list of games that don't work on Windows 8? After all PC gaming is generally the closest thing to 100% backwards compatible in all of the gaming industry.
It really depends on the views of the audience, and honestly, I think it is easy to see if a game is in here, and that it works, that you are good to go, and if it is not here, then it probably doesn't work, I have a list of games that don't on the bottom. Also: Masterlist Updated With Quake and GTA.
Battlefield Bad Company 2: Works Windowed: Yes Works Fullscreen: No Steam Game: Yes
Battlefield Bad Company 2: Works Fullscreen: No
It works, but because of freely movable cursor, it can be unfocused accidentally.
It works, but because of freely movable cursor, it can be unfocused accidentally.
When I launch the game, it runs in windowed mode. I have even gone through compatibility view and ran it on OS's as far back as XP SP1. The thing is, when its windowed the cursor moves along with the player-camera, so accidentally clicking the "X(close button)" or "Start" is a constant issue. Also, sometimes I get the problem when I click on the window where it tries to maximize itself, however the screen goes black like it is in the process of going full screen, then it goes back to windowed.

I use 32-bit edition.
I am, it's running like a dream.
WAKE UP! WAKE UP!
Opening poster, could you remove Grand Theft Auto 4 from the non-working games list and add this link about LIVE installing to the OP? Also, CoD4, CoD: WaW, CoD: MW3 and Skyrim work perfectly with Metro disabled (haven't tested with Metro, but I'm sure that CoD games will work properly).
Dota2, Source Games, and League of Legends all work flawlessly in Windows 8. Mabinogi (I play it with my girlfriend) doesn't work. The "hackshield" thing loads like normal, but then nothing happens.
Changes Added.

Not sure will the game work, but at least the startup program will have rights to launch admin-only applications. Could I run Daggerfall on it?
Thanks for the suggestion, but I had already tried it without any luck. Compatibility mode doesn't do it either. It's probably something I will have to wait for a while to get fixed.
Minecraft works in windowed mode. However, full screen causes my PC to restart with no error/BSoD. Weird.

Rift (64bit) runs flawlessly in windowed/fullscreen.
Fullscreen works for me. Might be your GPU's Drivers.
I'll look into it. (It's ATI drivers too.)
Are you using 7's drivers or 8's drivers. I'm using the latest Win7 drivers and it works fine.
Title: Goldsrc Games Works in Window Mode: Yes Works in Fullscreen: Yes On Steam: Yes
What drivers have people been using for the Radeon HD Series? I have a 6970 and I see ATI has Windows 8 preview drivers on their website. In a recent Windows update, it mucked up CCC so it would only show 3 options in the CCC, and completely removing all ATI software + driver and re-installing the Windows 7 driver and CCC did nothing to help fix it. I ended up re-installing Windows 8 and I haven't installed any drivers for my videocard yet.
I use the latest Windows 7 drivers.
Thanks, I will install it when I get home. This time around I am making sure Windows will not automatically update hardware drivers because I think that's what screwed me up.
Well I just finished isntalling the CCC for Windows 7, and this is what it looks like: I have no options for my videocard. I am using HDMI to connect to my monitor and right now I have these awful black borders because I can't use CCC to upscale the picture. Any ideas?
Is this on a laptop?
Is this on a laptop?
This is on my desktop. I have a 6970
The Vision Control Center is different from CCC. I've only seen that on laptops. Did you install the right package/installer?
This is where I downloaded it from http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloads/Pages/radeon_win7-64.aspx
No idea why it's doing that then :\
