Copper... Doesn't Aluminum have better thermal conductivity? I need to get another 240mm fan for my cooler, my processor still gets up to 60c on occasion.
http://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/thermal-conductivity-metals-d_858.html Copper is much better.
http://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/thermal-conductivity-metals-d_858.html Copper is much better.
Alright then. Also, can I ask what the acceptable temperature limits on a motherboard are? Mine gets to 40-45c on occasion, and I'm sure that isn't normal.

Most motherboards are meant to handle high temperatures, mine can handle temps so high my CPU would fry before the motherboard sustained any damage.
picked up a cooler master v8 for my upcoming build, jesus these things are massive. Got it for $35 too, on sale!
I love Coolermaster, they made the internal heatsinks for my motherboard. They manage to make things that look good and work well, instead of just doing one.

Looks about the same size as my asus silent square
[t]http://i.imgur.com/qMJKn.jpg[/t] This heatsink weighs about 4 pounds, made of pure copper btw. (heaviest heatsink in existance and there are only 1000 ever made)
I'm just waiting for the day it falls down and shorts out your entire pc
I'm just waiting for the day it falls down and shorts out your entire pc
What makes you think that would happen?
I'm just waiting for the day it falls down and shorts out your entire pc
Impossible, it's being hold by a rope.
Impossible, it's being hold by a rope.
Reminds me of one of my cables, my graphics card have an unusual spot for the socket which cause the wire to interfere with one of my fans so there is a ghetto long zip-tie holding the cable just a few millimeters away from the fan blades.
My friend's PC was getting around 80C at idle with his Q6600 so we opened up his case to have a look and... A lot of dusting later: Much better.
Lol, my friend has a prebuilt dell XPS with basically all the same shit inside only its got a 9800 GT instead. He had wads of dust balls in between his hard drives and his ram had a consistent thick layer of dust. Hist 9800 gt had a layer so thick you could'nt even read 9800 or GT on it, he was getting about 102c on full load.
How is that even possible, my 9800 barely ever hit 50c at heavy load :pwn:
How is that even possible, my 9800 barely ever hit 50c at heavy load :pwn:
Its a thing called dust my friend, It literally heats the fuck out of your computer.
Its a thing called dust my friend, It literally heats the fuck out of your computer.
I once had a graphics card that had so much dust in, the fan stopped moving. It melted.
I once had a graphics card that had so much dust in, the fan stopped moving. It melted.
Damn, I know that with enough dust the fan will slow down but I didnt know it would stop completely.
I had moved it to another, cheaper rig by that time, so it was a non-issue.

My primary monitor is a 32" LCD...I just happened across a 46" Panasonic Viera plasma and I have no use for it as a television. I think I'll have to take a ridiculous picture of these two setup on my desk.

This giant blank wall in front of my desk is just begging for a tv mount
