G500 is an awful mouse, why the fuck have you suggested it? lmao, rate me dumb then. Enjoy your heavy as fuck mouse with inbuilt acceleration above 1m/s, terrible tracking, low perfect control, low malfunction speed, poor build quality. Not to mention the jitter due to the sensor having a bad SROM version.
I personally enjoy a heavy mouse.
Is the G9x good?
Yes. Only big issue I've heard though is that it suffers from major jitter issues when you lift off the mouse from the desk.
I use the Razer Lachesis 5600 DPI and I have to say it's a great ambidextrous mouse (lefty here). Very responsive, enough extra buttons to make things easier in FPS games and has customizable internal color LEDs because why the hell not? By the way, does anyone know of a GOOD left-handed gaming mouse (if such a thing even exists)?

This thread should include some facts about sensors and stuff to help people make informed buying decisions. Personally I think it should also include how most of what Razer makes is gimmicky overpriced crap that breaks in no time.
proof?
I, too, would like to see what sources you're pulling your info from.
proof?
How about hundreds and hundreds of unbiased user reviews from reputable sites? A quick google search can even give you a good idea of the amount of complaints the mouse gets. I've had several friends returning their G500s for MX518's or even G9x's, based simply off tracking issues or it falling apart on them. Look, if there's one thing I know, it's computer mice. There are FAR better options than the G500. Just leave the MX518 if you're looking for similar mice - it's only got inbuilt prediction as it's major flaw, and comes with nicer buttons, a better build quality and an excellent sensor. I'm in a filthy mood at the moment so I'm not going to continue typing, so I'm just going to leave this thread.
Steelseries Sensei is ambidextrous, and it's pretty good from what I've heard
Looks really comfortable from the pictures. I'm interested, but I really doubt they're available where I live. Will look it up though.

One more thing, I may as well be helpful before I ragequit. I pulled this list off the CG forums. I've had a Razer DeathAdder 3500DPI Edition for a pretty long time. So far, it's the best mouse I've owned, and I had an MX518 before this.
Looks really comfortable from the pictures. I'm interested, but I really doubt they're available where I live. Will look it up though.
Actually a lot of the Steelseries mice seem to be ambidextrous
Because lefties are looking for new gaming mice, but nearly nobody makes them. Which either turns them automatically to Steelseries or Razer. Steelseries makes them ambidextrous so they can still sell them to right-handed people.
Looks really comfortable from the pictures. I'm interested, but I really doubt they're available where I live. Will look it up though.
It's a pretty nice mouse. The dirt doesn't get caught in stupid places like on my old Imperator and it's supposedly using a more accurate sensor (ADNS rather than Twin-Eye).
For left-handed people, the only major mouse producer (major being Microsoft, Logitech, Razer, or Steelseries) that isn't really an option is Logitech. When it comes to Microsoft stick with the big three, those being the WMO, IMO 1.1, and [del]IMO 3.0[/del] (forgot that the IMO 3.0 is for right-handed unlike the other two). For Razer, I've heard some things about glitchy sensors in different versions of the Deathadder and I don't know if they ever fixed it, so if it were me I'd go with an Abyssus if I wanted a Razer mouse. For Steelseries, I don't really know much about their mice except that most people seem to praise them for quality/weight/reliability/etc. (I've never used one though), at the cost of bigger price. I'm thinking about getting a Sensei though.
Okay, decided i'll probably go for a Sidewinder x4 Keyboard but I require a mouse. I was planning to get the R.A.T. 5 for about £42, but is it just full of gimmicks or great? If not, what do you recommend for around £40?

I have a Gigabyte M6900, got it for like £15 and it's served me well for over a year.
I'll update the post tomorrow since this laptop is being a dick and not letting me edit. Thanks for the suggestions guys.
Add a bit about the different lasers or such Mice use.. My Mouse has a blue Laser which apparently can work on more surfaces than a red ones do, then there's the ball mice which suck
WHY would I want a new mouse? [editline]21st February 2012[/editline] mine works sweet when I want to.. wel... CLICK SOMETHING.
WHY would I want a new mouse? [editline]21st February 2012[/editline] mine works sweet when I want to.. wel... CLICK SOMETHING.
More buttons, higher DPI, More comfort, Look's good.
I don't know why anyone would need more buttons, every game ever made on PC is designed to be played with 2. Never really understood the concept of DPI. More comfort and good looking are thte only valid reasons, but I'm not paying 100 dollars for a good looking mouse.

so I want a wireless usb mouse with not too many extra buttons, but more than the standard three. I keep running into mice that are bluetooth-only, wired-only, or have about fifty extra buttons (which I don't need). Really I'd be fine with 4 or 5. Any good suggestions? I ask this as I'm slowly going through all the mice listed so far, but Amazon isn't giving me much. e. eyeballing these two, just in preliminary looks, any opinions or other suggestions?

I have a Razer Lachesis and a CM Storm Sentinel but none of these can compete against my old $15 Gigabyte M6800.
Add the Xai to the OP. It's gorgeous. Got mine for £25 in a sale.
