  • If you can, I'd turn the slab/walkway in front of the two outlet pipes into a pair of arches or into a slope towards the channel. If they were running, water would be going all over the walkways as well.

I forgot if that gets tied to an entity. Worse case you could like combine each row of panes into one big ass DMM pane

Perf really is the limiting factor here, I go from 120~ FPS in the corner of the room to ~57, which is a significant drop. It could probably be helped if I got rid of the refract materials, but I don't really want to do that either.

You really harnessed the feel that that section had, it was one of my favorites from the game Also that container tower explosion particle system is bootyful.

  • [QUOTE=KnightVista;51979323]Post the vmf![/QUOTE] I might, but it has alot of custom particles, sounds and etc. But this is how I made it, Logic_timer with 6 sec (sound length) Every 6 sec one phys_explode with radius of 20000 Hu with a magnitude of 99999 that ignores the player (this is for physics). And another one that only affects the player that has a mag of 5000 (so it doesn't look like you're teleporting around the map) Also use check Los on the phys_exp's so you can use cover. Sound: When the player is out of cover, the player will be hit by the phys_explosion that's for the player, and it will fire an output that will do a bunch of effects (env_zoom, env_screeneffect, viewpuncher, etc) and also play the 'non-lowpassed' audio file. I also use a Trigger_look for the visual screen fizzle that displays a second before the boom. And that's pretty much it Afair.
  • It might just be me, but I could certainly see something like that being used for climbing a cargo-elevator shaft or something (so jumping into it when it blasts, rather than avoid it).

[t]http://i.imgur.com/W8cz1nX.jpg[/t] FYI, the reason that the screenshot doesn't have a good view of the pond is that reflections don't work properly with actual skyboxes, which is a shame because I actually do like how the mirror water looks and I kinda don't want to downgrade it to a boring transparent plane even though I may have too.

  • Not really a mapping post, but I was looking through some old files of mine after having just moved due to university, and i found this map layout I did a few years ago, when i tried to cobble together as many of my unused and half-finished projects as possible.[T]https://preview.ibb.co/e8TM8v/IMG_20170320_WA0003.jpg[/t] Kind of fun to look over it again and retrace the mission and maps i wanted to make. If I had some free time, I might even have a look at it again, see what comes of it ... It's somehow really inspiring/motivating to already have a rough idea and layout in front of you when starting to create something
