Okay, I know clean textures are always wanted for cleaner looking maps. I've been working on this for about 3 days straight. Remember all the moments you had with your Sims, building their walls, choosing their floors, and decorating their house only to kill them because you're an evil bastard? Well, I've ported about over 2,500 textures. Very few are bumpmapped, but all are pretty high quality and great for interior scenes. I've organized the textures by what material they're made of, and their purpose. I've ripped the textures from just about every addon for The Sims 2. So, here they are. I've got not much more to say, so on with the previews and links. Too late to fix it now, but I thought I'd mention the mistake. Just drag the contents of each ZIP file straight into your materials folder. Happy mapping!
• Holy hell that zombie scared me... But that's awesome! So useful for modern buildings!
• Holy shit man. These are all clean and good looking too! Great work and they will be fun to use!
• Thanks a lot for these. Wait, what? Hows that a zing comment? Oh, I see.
• this is beautiful [editline]11th August 2011[/editline] beautiful
•
Please, Give me your children!
What is it with you and Kids?
Ill do it if you give me server owner and let me kill your first born child.
• Just wondering where the path texture is that should match the roads? The rest of it is amazing I love it so much, now all we need is The Sims 3... :P
• Corey, thanks for releasing this! Would there be a chance that I could: A: <SNIP> B: Modify to perhaps produce some 'grittier' textures C: Add some more realism to such a vibrant texture style And if so, I'll be releasing them here on FP, but are there any legal issues to worry about?
• UPDATE: Base Sims 2 Texture Pack updated to include all available bumpmaps from the game. Note that none of the addon textures have bumpmaps, so I couldn't do much about that.
• Thank you for this. I can finally use my favourite textures ever in Source! Did you port these using SimPE or Homecrafter Plus?
• Is there a download with ALL of the textures? and could you upload the VMF of the map in video?
•
Thank you for this. I can finally use my favourite textures ever in Source! I had to click and export each texture individually, there is no batch operation so it takes a long time. As for the VMF, here you go. Other textures I made (required for the map, made them from Photoshopped pictures of my own house) simstest.vmf
• Oh baby that's the stuff. [editline]11th August 2011[/editline] If I had enough time on my hands I would fiddle with specular/bumpmaps/cubemaps on all of them, but I don't. Maybe one day.
• This is the motherload. Great job organizing the materials very neatly. Also, I may create specular/bumpmaps for the base textures if I even possibly have time for it.
• Are there any glass/window textures in any of these packs? Edit: Can someone explain bumpmaps/specular?
•
Are there any glass/window textures in any of these packs? Edit: Can someone explain bumpmaps/specular?
There is one glass texture, but it's not a window. It's the glass blocks like those found in this picture: Bump maps give the illusion of height on a texture. Spec maps have something to do with shininess, though you may want someone else to explain spec maps, I really never used them.
•
Next you should do The Sims 3. These are awesome.
I tried the Sims 3 at a friend's house. I didn't like it all that much, so I never bought a copy. Maybe one day when all the expansions come out I'll buy it all and get all the textures from it, as well as enjoy the game.
•
Sweet Jesus, make love to me...
What will you name the child?
• That must have been a lot of effort, honestly. I do wish I had the same attention span as you OP, to do this kind of stuff. It would be nice having more people around in this world like you.
•
What is it with you and Kids?
Recruiting child slaves for Australia.
• Maybe I will release a couple Sims 2 models in the models section. Mops, anyone?
