Kliener is on the bottom right of the picture to give scale.
Map made based on an image in my head (although the image in my head was a little different, the platforms weren't so big (they need to be big to build on) and the entire thing was a lot bigger). It was mostly done to see what interesting shapes I could make with just brushes and displacements, no models.
It's been a while since I've done a non-commisioned map so I took a little break to do this.
A huge thanks to samt/YoiT for the great music.

Wow. That is... incredible. Does the map continue at all beyond those outer curved pillars?

I'm afraid not. It's as big as hammer will allow.
What he said. Any requirements? Cause I want.
Holy fucking shit...
*insert derogatorily "That's what she said"*
If this is was in your head, fuck dude, you could be a professional artist soon. Excelent work!
now all we need is cthulu stuff.
My mind = blown.
just messed up my my rendering with a broken ent, durr hurr.
I couldn't find kleiner
Wow, this is beautiful! Will you be making any more maps like this?
I'd like to see some more abstract maps with twisting corridors and strange sights, like something out of the Twilight Zone.
holy cow, that look as if only really good computers can run it
the face on my avatar shows my astonishment

Actually, due to it's relative simplicity and nice texturing work (the pics betray these), it actually runs pretty well on mid-range computers.
'Tis a beauty, a wonder, and I hope many will take advantage of this map for something. Totally awesome.
Wow. This is quite certainly the most interesting map I have ever layed eyes on. As for coming up with the abstract idea, cool, but its not too hard to come up with abstract stuff like that. Where the real mind blowing starts, is that it is INCREDIBLY hard to accurately portray those ideas. You sir, have managed to portray your abstract vision, not to mention in 3d form too. It must have been a bitch to make that map. Great work, superb implementation.
This map reminds me of the artifacts from STALKER
I'd say this is outstanding. I liked how you used one reference: your imagination. I'd say it's possible to do accomplish anything just by using a bit of imagination, you'd agree?
I don't know what the fuck this is but it looks goddamn artistic anyway.
Good on you, sir!
It looks great! Could you possibly release a darker version of the map? Like a nighttime skybox? It would make the lights in it look really good. But that's just my opinion.
gawd. that thing is amazing :D gunna try it out in a minute
tested it, and i gotta say i like the song and can i have the same images on your head? :3 they seen to be epic
tested it, and i gotta say i like the song [/QUOTE]
Thanks, you're now the second person to have commented on it. :)
I've never had any of my maps feature in a youtube vid before :')
Oh and just to say again. Huge thanks to yoiT there for the song. Everyone make sure you wait for the main song to kick in when you play the map, it starts off as a quiet beat that you might not hear.
will you ever release the map you made for the surreal mapping contest?
I was kinda going to, but then I was like naaaaaaah. There's too many things to fix up, it's not really worth it, I don't think people will like it that much.
pretty nice looking map though
