naw man danelectro longhorns are cool in their own nasty way like all danelectro guitars although really if you want a quality instrument with that kind of body shape you can't go past the maton el toro my guitar teacher in high school had one and he said it was kind of hard to play but the tone was better than any other bass he had ever played.
Aww, Thomann no longer have the Harley Benton Rickenbacker clone. I wanted that...
Aww, Thomann no longer have the Harley Benton Rickenbacker clone. I wanted that...
It's still available http://www.thomann.de/it/harley_benton_rb_600cs_classic_series.htm Kind of weird anyway, i've heard that Rickenbacker has a strict policy agaist copies
Should've specified I meant the bass clone. Forgot they had guitar clones. I tried Googling it and I just found its old product page saying they no longer stock it.
thanks guys fucking thanks now i need a knock off 12 string rickenbacker in my life
thanks guys fucking thanks now i need a knock off 12 string rickenbacker in my life
Only 160 quid, mate. http://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_rb_612cs_classic_series.htm While we're on the subject of Rickenbackers, what's with the bar of metal over the strings on them?

Man I feel like I have been neglecting this thread, just been so busy with college and studio work but I figured I would let you all know that I am still alive. So my guitar tech tip of the day is if you have fret buzz around the middle frets of your neck before you break out the fret files check how much bow there is in your neck. Too much bow can be just as bad as too little bow. That is all...
some old guitars have metal guards over their bridges but it's more common on basses where they would put some foam in there too to kill the sustain and make it sound more like an upright bass
Over the bridge, I get, but these are in the middle of the body. Looks like it's right above a pick-up.

I want this because of reasons.
Yeah, it's a pickup guard/cover or palmrest. Those are more of a style feature than anything else.
the ones over pickups were supposed to shield the pickup from hum i think
the ones over pickups were supposed to shield the pickup from hum i think
That seems to only be effective if you're facing the source of the hum though.
http://www.thomann.de/gb/rickenbacker_33012jg.htm Dream guitar, Jetglo Rickenbacker 330/12, only because of Marr.
That neck looks so tiny when compared to the huge body.
ed sheeran's guitar sounds really nice, its the acoustic sound i want and it's really affordable.

man some smaller acoustics can be really nice. i had a mate who played one of these for example definitely more like a travel guitar than a kid's guitar.
its so strange to me that blink 182 are now exclusively using jaguars ever since tom left the band and matt skiba replaced him. matt got 2 jags custom made for playing in blink and now mark plays a jag bass. they always seemed like a band that would play LPs or something like that but their songs sound so good on a jaguar or strat.
I really love the looks of those Rickenbacher basses, but I don't play bass much and I don't like the looks of any of their six-strings. Does anyone know how difficult/expensive it would be (beyond the normal cost of the bass) to convert one of the basses to a guitar/baritone guitar? In theory, all you would need is to replace the nut and tuner layout on the headstock, replace the pickups with similar sized pickups for six strings, and replace the bridge setup. It would be a big conversion, but has anyone ever done it?

Jaguars look slow and ugly though.

I think they just need to be the right color. White jags with a brown pickguard look poopy
jags are cool because rowland s. howard played one and he's cool

Does anyone know anything about Samick guitars? I found one that my dad had hidden away in a closet and it seems to sound decent enough. I just know absolutely nothing about their reputation. Oh, and it's an acoustic.
