•
Edited my screenshooter to take videos! It's really nice I can record and upload windows instantly. [vid]http://j.mp/s9Allb[/vid] [editline]3rd December 2011[/editline] what's the webm tags again? [editline]3rd December 2011[/editline] Oh video was shortened to a more hip "vid".
How are you saving the video? What kind of FPS can it pull?
 •
I would certainly use this once it is on a non-trident engine, and as long as this addon can be installed in it.
I'm actively looking for options to ditch this WebBrowser component - I'm definitely going to be including at least some form of such an improvement addon. In fact my existing program has a button dedicated to executing a slightly modified JavaScript bookmarklet that provides (very useful) auto-join functionality when you need it. A quick related question - is it possible to package .dll's within the standalone .exe of the program so as to have it remain... standalone?

 • Hi everyone. This is my first time posting here. I started learning XNA last evening.
 •
How do preexisting lights work with your implementation? Does this also work well in corridors for you? It looks very nice.
They work okay, They do not change much as almost none of the lighting has been changed, In the static light I've only changed the light_envoirement so it a cooler ambient light, and removed it's main brightness since the level is going to be lit exclusively with the dynamic sunlight, indirect light bounces may change the indoor lighting a bit, one problem is that it overbrightens way too much too easily, but it can be changed with a few tweaks, I'm totally going to use this in my next project
 • I can either make materials use a binary format, which would require me to code an editor, but it would have the advantage of each parameter having a type assigned to it Or I could write a key values parser and make it be like source materials Or I could just implement JSON, but both plaintext options would require me to make assumptions about the type when loading it, which could result in an extreme mess
 • I have no idea what possessed me to make this... [hd]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zt-u8gtGGbE[/hd] It's written in C# with XNA for my first Uni assignment. We're supposed to have something moving around the screen, bounded by the edges of the window, and some form of enemy and pickups. I think I've met those conditions... I'm quite pleased with the rocket AI, it uses both yours and its own states to figure out the best direction to move it to collide with you in the shortest time. It's fun! [editline]:|[/editline] I hate nyan cat.
 • Seasons greetings one and all. I posted this in the last thread on the same day that this one was created, so some of you may have already seen this live wallpaper I made real quick for android. Anyway, since then I put it on the android market so if any of you are feeling festive and would like this fat shit staring out of you from your phone, you can download it here. Note it might be a tad heavy on battery usage at the moment... Nevertheless, merry christmas!

 • First attempt at a basic chat system: No real limit other than performance in regards to the number of users... And maybe batshit crazy things happening if enough were chatting at once. It is a horrible system. (And very much the opposite of direct) And uh, well as I said before there isn't much to show of my 'Battlelog for STEAM' program... But since I re-wrote it in WPF (haven't gotten around to swapping out the browser though yet), have a very non-informative picture: Yes. That is a checkbox dedicated to running a bookmarklet. It will do until I swap out the browser.

Nice job. Now make it learn your movement patterns and turn it into an AI :D
 •
I see the rocket does a bit more than just accelerate to your position. Nice job. Now make it learn your movement patterns and turn it into an AI :D
Yeah I've spent a rather large percentage of the time trying to get the rocket to be a bit cleverer, and it still needs some work. I'll have a go at your idea, don't really know where to start with that though :P
 • After bluescreening myself 5 times and fucking up paging on several occasions, I've managed to write a threaded ICMP pinging program for Windows using C++. Eventually I hope to turn it into a fully-fledged internet discovery program using a pipeline structure for identifying interesting services running on different devices. •
How are you saving the video? What kind of FPS can it pull?
I'm using ffmpeg with a bash script. It can record full tf2 videos at about 9 fps. It saves onto a server that's mounted on my computer via a network filesystem (So it's already uploading while I record) It can't select regions of my screen right now, but I use xwininfo to let me select a window to record. I also have espeak tell me when it's recording and when it's ready to be pasted in a neat robot voice. :v: http://j.mp/u5thyE I'm not going to give a [vid] link because it's hosted on my home network and I don't want you all blowing it up.

 •
How do you even manage to mess up paging on Windows?
By locking critical sections and then forcefully closing the thread that owns the lock, forcing a bluescreen.. Apparently.
 •

Does this only support one global light, or multiple lights? And how expensive is this?
 •
Does this only support one global light, or multiple lights? And how expensive is this?
It's limited at 1 global light, but it could easily be changed to support more with a small change of line, But I don't see the point, you can still add multiple projected lights, And it's not very expensive, It's very playable in my 4650 at 1080p with everything set at high, Also
 • I really want to make a networked game but I find that creating a GUI in code and setting up the way server and clients talk (currently, there's a class for every type of information that can be communicated) kills my mood for programming all together. Is there a way to speed this up or make it easier? I guess those are 2 separate questions. How do I make a GUI fast (especially things like aligning the buttons in code with the place they're supposed to be on the background image) and What's the quickest way to describe different types of information that can be communicated?

Example:
Gwen::Controls::Button* startButton = new Gwen::Controls::Button( canvas ); startButton->SetBounds( 10, 10, 200, 100 ); startButton->SetText( "Start Game" ); startButton->onPress.Add( this, &Menu::onStartGameButtonClicked );
I'm using GWEN in my game and I am very happy with it.
