• I want to learn how to work PHP, MySQL and such, but since I need to have a server I want to have my first server to be free. Now, I'm using it for MediaWiki, as a database as Dandwiki.com so I need atleast 70 MB of space. I found 000webhost.com with 1500 MB of space and 100 GB traffic, so I need some opinions and others to compare. I can't host it myself as I have a bad PC.

 • Use WAMP it will let you host a local web server on your PC with stuff like PHP / MYSQL right off the bat. I know you say your PC is bad, but web servers take very little to run, especially if your just using it to mess around with without any traffic. If your only just starting to play around with these languages then you dont really need to use a live web server.

 • You could also try XAMPP : http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html It does the same thing as WAMP, but it is also compatible with Linux and Mac.

 • Well, I'm using it as a database. I got it up now at 000webhosting.com (with one hell of problems) http://barbarianrpg.net84.net/ But it works.

 • Just setup a local Linux Virtual Machine with some flavor of Debian, there's no point in paying for a server just to muck around.

As long as there's enough ram to give at least 256+mb of RAM to the Vbox then he should be alright.

 • For fuck's sake, just download Xampp or Wamp or whichever, install it and be done with it.

 • Guys... he was just looking for an easy way to do it. You know he isn't going to install WAMP or do anything very technical because there is an easier option. He asked for a good free webhost why not provide it to him..?
