• Grass made with individual blades. Very unoptimised and is without lighting and animation. Generated using a geometry shader in Direct3D 11, using SlimDX. Also it looks a little crummy because some white is leaking into the texture at a distance, I need to switch from a single png with alpha channel to seperate textures.
 • Something I wanted to make for a while, a random imgur image grabber [t]http://i.imgur.com/NnEgq.png[/t]
 • [lua]local z,_s={},setmetatable_s(z,z)function z.__call(s, ...)return s:new(...)end function z:init()end function z.parent()return getmetatable(s)end function z.new(s,...)local o=_s({},s)s.__index,s.__call=s,Object.__call o:init(...)return o end Object=z[/lua]I hand minified my object library to chop off like 50 bytes. It's at 251 bytes now. Testing with this: [lua]require "Tiny" Apple = Object() function Apple:init() print "I'm an apple!" end n = Apple()[/lua]
 •
Here's probably just setting the stencil and redrawing the ENTIRE scene or something. I'm curious though.
Maurice using the stencil buffer to accomplish game mechanics? NEVER!
 •
Something I wanted to make for a while, a random imgur image grabber
That's a funny coincidence, I just finished up my imgur roulette tool as well! [t]http://i.imgur.com/p4VM2.png[/t]
 •
Well, I'm really glad you asked! I'm done with it now, so time for the first testflight... ... fuck.
You have a schematic for that? Or just tell me how you got the musical tone.
 •
Well, I'm really glad you asked! I'm done with it now, so time for the first testflight... ... fuck.
Nice £500.
 •
Experimenting with see-through portals
Maybe add sine sort of borders to the segments? Currently it makes me feel rather sick...
Maybe I asked too quick before thinking. I couldn't get a Sourcemod to compile with VS 2012 and couldn't find a clue about how to fix it. Also, the SSDK doesn't give me the option to create a mod with the 2009 engine, so I have to use the 2007 engine.
Fixing Source SDK for VS 2012 is pretty trivial unless you're using express. If you can't fix it you might want to lower your goals slightly.
 •
Experimenting with see-through portals
This is really confusing. Almost hypnotic.
 • Yeah it's a framebuffer + stencil thing. (This laptop really sucks for recording)
 •
Yeah it's a framebuffer + stencil thing. (This laptop really sucks for recording)
Oh god what is happening.
 •
Yeah it's a framebuffer + stencil thing. (This laptop really sucks for recording)
This really does make my stomach feel uneasy :v:
 • Maurice, your work on portal projecting is really cool and all, but I'm having a hard time seeing how that could be used in a game effectively. Pretty much everyone is saying how disorienting and nauseating it is, and it doesn't read well at all to me. Or maybe you'll prove me wrong in like 5 posts and have something awesome I dunno.

Infinite loops are almost always disorienting and nauseating.
 •
Experimenting
Yeah, that's what I said too back in high school when I sucked that guy's d... dorito chip.
 •
Yeah, that's what I said too back in high school when I sucked that guy's d... dorito chip.
I'm not sure how odd it is but when scrolling through this happened: (I swear I didn't frame this)
 • Heh, just spent a few hours trying to see / get a workable google voice api for python but there's nothing. pygooglevoice is broken, because they've changed how they handle authentification, and they still haven't released an official API for it.

 •
The comments of the video gave me cancer
YouTube comments are the bottom of the barrel. It's best to just ignore them.

 •
Do you know if they have any screencasts on game dev?
Nope, DAS doesn't. I'd be interested in finding some game dev ones as well.
