I like city building games, like Sim City, but is this any good? Not the greatest scores on review sites. http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/cities-xl-2012
It's not that good, but at this price I'd say it's worth it. [editline]21st February 2012[/editline] Whilst the developers really emphasised on the curved roads, if you want a very good city you may as well just do square blocks, though I suppose you can do a few nice things with the roads if you're really good at it. Also you have an 'Earth' view which lets you access all your cities, you've also got trading, but this just causes problems with the more new cities you start. You trade with 'Tokens' which you get by building certain zones, which you can specialise your city in to get more tokens. It's also not that optimised, but it's better than the previous versions of the game, it just lags a lot. Eventually your game will devolve into a lagfest and all of your 'Tokens' will be such a clusterfuck of mess that you'll eventually throw in the towel and start a new city. [editline]21st February 2012[/editline] Though it can look really nice and it's fun to design little communities with.
Does it still have bad memory leaks?
Does it still have bad memory leaks?
I don't think so, though I never really played it longer than an hour at a time so I probably avoided them.
Dammit. I'm so tempted to get this but I've heard so many horror stories about this series.

I have a 33% off coupon for this, making the total 6.70$
If you've played any other game in the Cities XL series, you've played them all. If it was on sale for $5 then I guess it would be a good deal, but 10 bucks is still to high in my opinion.
-snip-
I would say it's worth the price if you don't own any of the previous installments The soundtrack is really spectacular
The soundtrack is really spectacular
I found the soundtrack to be too repetitive. In fact, so much so that I actually muted the music and found the SimCity 4 soundtrack on youtube and listened to that instead. Wish I waited for this sale...I bought it around full price because I was craving a city builder to pass the time a month ago, ugh.
huge choice of NEARLY 1
I love the Sim City series but Im not sure if I should pick this up
Problem is,if you have too many residents the games lags like hell because it only uses one core. They need to fix this in the next game!
downloading as we speak :)
Is this SimCity quality?
Is this SimCity quality?
not really
Okay, saving money then.
When will us city builders be blessed with a dynamic city builder like Sim City! I want the city to evolve depending on their quality of life/environment again!
