I'm really surprised such a buggy and unoptimized mod that requires a relatively unknown 25€ game got that far
Before anyone says it, this is popular because A. People like it and B. It's the zombie game/mod that every zombie game should have been: Huge, open world, survivalist, realistic.
"which might make Day Z sound like a relatively zombie-free paradise. But that assumption would be wrong since almost 4 million characters have been straight-up murdered by other players" This makes no sense
Well people don't generally get murdered 4 million times in a paradise
I just got confused because they say "zombie free" but then go on to say a figure of pvp kills not pve kills

Anyway, DayZ is tons of fun, although right now I'm taking a break from it. Play some other more general games before heading back into that thing again.
misinterpreted an above post, whoops
meh got pretty bored of it after 2 months once you have all the guns and vehicles and shit there's not much else to do
meh got pretty bored of it after 2 months once you have all the guns and vehicles and shit there's not much else to do
If you're playing by yourself, maybe.
I want a dayz without the zombies. Just a bunch of players in a limited environment with scarce supplies. No restrictions. Now that would be interesting.
I want a dayz without the zombies. Just a bunch of players in a limited environment with scarce supplies. No restrictions. Now that would be interesting.
no it wouldnt
I want a dayz without the zombies. Just a bunch of players in a limited environment with scarce supplies. No restrictions.
I want a dayz without the zombies. Just a bunch of players in a limited environment with scarce supplies. No restrictions. Now that would be interesting.
That does actually seem quite interesting. You would need a vast amount of players or else it would get a bit boring.
I'd love their movement and detection to be somehow managable. For instance hitting them with a hatchet is a gamble. Sometimes they can't hurt you at all, sometimes you can straight up kill 5 zeds one after another, sometimes you get hit without any animation showing at all. Now that would be interesting.
It would take out much atmosphere, for instance why is the world empty, also people would just start to figure out basic scavenging routes and everything would be pretty boring. Just look how long it takes sometimes to meet someone if you are not in the majoir cities. The zeds break up the "run from a to b" routine.
I would've bought Arma II during the Summer sale, but I've heard a lot of shitty stories about DayZ from my friends, where they've constantly been robbed, killed, and died from bugs that need to be worked out. My one friend was walking down stairs in a barn, and both his legs broke for no reason.
I came to DayZ for zombies Instead, I got players. A lot of them, most of which want to murder your face. I really wish DayZ was more about the zombies than it was about players killing other players for loot or killing players out of boredom.

The biggest boost to the Czeck economy since the invention of the automatic pistol.

It's too bad that the singleplayer version was put down. Isolation and immersion is completely ruined by jerks roaming the country side in UAZ's and shooting everything that's not grey.
It would kind of defeat the point though.... I was always under the impression it was more about the human and social impacts a zombie apocalypse would have. Whether people would band together or pray on the weak. All I want from DayZ is optimisation improvements. I get about 40-50fps in Arma2, but on a DayZ server I get 10fps in the cities, maybe 18-25 otherwise.

My experiences with the community over the past month or so have rarely been good ones so that's one problem. Another problem is that contrary to what you say, the zombies don't impact anything. They're such a non-threat people just kill each other on sight because it's the only thing to do.

Since there's no way to suicide, I tried to feed myself to the zombies, but for some reason they all completely ignored me. I think I beat the game?
I got it 2 days ago and I play on my own on the packed servers. I died like twice but now I am up north near the air strip with everything there is to get. Now I don't know what to do really I thought it was going to be more of a challenge.
meh got pretty bored of it after 2 months once you have all the guns and vehicles and shit there's not much else to do
Dude, it's two fucking months. If you got bored of playing it after two god damned months then that's probably a pretty fun game.
