#app_203810_content Sounds interesting. [editline]14th February 2012[/editline] Oh, reloaded and then it worked.
Well I somewhat pieced it together in that I [sp]saw parts of car doors on the first level and figured cars were relevant to the story - how else would they end up where they did in a crack in the desolate island. Later I saw a steering wheel by the stranded boat and a muffler and though maybe I was right. It was a long shot but I was actually right. Then I saw the writings and didn't understand them really until I fell down the waterfall and saw the intersection. I started to understand. I didn't get the whole picture until I was at the moon-lit level.[/sp] Now, here's a theory - I may be wrong but here's what I think; [sp]I think your theory is wrong on the account of the writings on the walls, and all the mysteriousness around that stuff, but mostly the fact that you turn into a bird and fly away at the end. I figured since the writings say 'he continues his journey ('ascension' is also mentioned) and 'journey to heaven' I figure the island is some sort of limbo for certain souls, a plateu to heaven. This also might make sense of what happened - the electrical diagrams are, like the narrator mentioned, diagrams of autolock breaks (with 21 components) This man might have died on the M5 intersection 21 miles from home from failing autolock breaks. The intersection you see when underwater. The girl pictured by the heap of car parts - perhaps one of the deceased of the car accident along with those mentioned in the story? Esther maybe? My theory makes sense of pretty much everything going on on the island as well as Scot's ghost thing. Perhaps another soul on the island?[/sp] May sound a bit crazy, and it is merely wild speculation but in my mind and the way the story was set up it makes sense.
[sp]The writing on the walls to me is rambling scribbles but most of the symbols are equations to chemicals. In my playthrough one letter hinted at that Jefferson (I think thats his name, though he refers to it in third person at some points) is a pharmacist/scientist. He also mentions near the very start about getting an infected leg, taking a shit ton of medical supplies to finish his ascent (right before the radio tower there is a cave with shit ton of used medical supplies) and how the old residents used to carve white lines into the hills when they were about to die (in this case he painted a shit ton of paint on the hill referencing the bible). Personally I think we are some random, unnamed guy following his story and covering his tracks. As mentioned in the end monologue he talks about how his story will end just like Jacobson (the Shepard) and a new one will begin.[/sp] Either way some really deep shit but still very confusing.
I just noticed this but [sp]When you go into the sea and go underwater you see images and you hear a noise. The noise reminds me of an ultrasound and if you look around there are pictures of ultrasounds around in some of the houses[/sp]

I didn't count hydrogen atoms but I think it was Ethanol. Drunk driver? Narrator mentioned a drunk driver. And then the electrical thing would still fit with autolock breaks.[/sp] [editline]15th February 2012[/editline]
I just noticed this but [sp]When you go into the sea and go underwater you see images and you hear a noise. In the house in chapter 1 [sp]it looked like a nuclear explosion, but when I looked closer it was an ultrasound. I remember that.[/sp]
I bought this as soon as I got home, it was a fantastic game
I don't think this game is trying to be too creepy, but I was bricking it the whole way through for some reason.
If you buy this I highly reccomend that you give it a couple of full playthroughs. Like the mod, it will give you different bits of audio and some different visuals at times. For instance: [sp] during the underwater highway bit on my first playthrough I saw the two crashed cars. The second time round there were no cars but instead a hospital bed with an IV bag.[/sp]
I live a few miles away from here and I'm tempted to walk around it some more.
There's a fucking goatse on the island man I saw it and you never said anything about goatses I'm shitting myself. Pic:
those rocks look like wet turds

I really enjoyed it; I played the original mod when it first came out and playing this is almost nostalgic. I recommend getting it as soon as you can/when it goes on sale. Despite that, I think the $10 was too pricey. Maybe $5 is worth it, but ten is a little much.
I would totally buy it if it was 5 bucks.

I think I saw the ghost too, when I was climbing up a hill it stared down on me from above. Pretty eerie, but a nice touch.
This game is really beautiful. (click it for bigger image.)
this game sent shivers down my spine when i saw the ghostly figure [editline]15th February 2012[/editline] i kinda dont mind that its 8€ because if you compare it to other "art games" like the path and graveyard it's really really good you get what you expect
Played it, can't piece it all together but [sp]I noticed when I 'died' by jumping down that bottomless pit early on, the sound that played was a heart beat/Blood Rushing to Head sound, and clearly a car's blinker clicking There's a place with a few car tires in with the rocks, as well as car parts of all sorts all over the place. I'm thinking the guy's brakes failed and his car flew off a cliff into the ocean but that's just me, whoever the guy is[/sp]
Damn, I kept telling my friends that I felt followed. They just said "yeah, yeah. Play Amnesia". Well, we all know we're followed. [IMG_THUMB]http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/488876131759247578/5BB26013C52C4DD5B2C167DB5099F9A47AEB9D44/[/IMG_THUMB] Shit is scary bros. But what a nice story.
[thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/18250036/esther0000.jpg[/thumb] This is so pretty. Once again, this was very awesome. I found myself staring at the vegitation along the paths as i walked. Simply amazing stuff.
[sp]I also recall the narrator mentioning something about the diagrams in the waiting room at a hospital representing the chemical reactions that were breaking Esther down, presumably as she was dying. This would explain the drawings of neurons that can be found along with the circuit diagrams, as Esther was losing her brain function.[/sp]
How the fuck did he get the skybox to blend with the water so nicely?

Source may be outdated, but this still shows that there's still a bit more to be squeezed out of it.
That ending monologue son. [sp]Dear Esther. I have burnt my belongings, my books, this death certificate. Mine will be written all across this island. Who was Jacobson, who remembers him? Donnelly has written of him, but who was Donnelly, who remembers him? I have painted, carved, hewn, scored into this space all that I could draw from him. There will be another to these shores to remember me. I will rise from the ocean like an island without bottom, come together like a stone, become an aerial, a beacon that they will not forget you. We have always been drawn here: one day the gulls will return and nest in our bones and our history. I will look to my left and see Esther Donnelly, flying beside me. I will look to my right and see Paul Jacobson, flying beside me. They will leave white lines carved into the air to reach the mainland, where help will be sent.. My ascent is predetermined and forever begun.[/sp]

Wow, it seems quite scary... Can't wait to buy it when I get paid on friday.
Wow, it seems quite scary... Can't wait to buy it when I get paid on friday.
You know that's not actually in the game right?
You know that's not actually in the game right?
Still looks kinda scary though, but I figured that by the massive half-life references.
Yeah that video of the secret is fake - the real thing isn't scary: but it is quite eerie and very atmospheric.
