But has no one noticed that Crysis 2 maximum edition (originally on origin) came to steam after a hissy fit with the fuck ups of ea? See now that they may make a deal to put sim city on steam.
but i already own sim city. i have it on a cd, AND on my super nintendo!
I'm really hating the trend going on right now of making awesome sequels to games we've all been waiting for, only to totally ruin and/or mar them with awful business practices overriding actual good gameplay. I.E. Diablo 3 being very auction-house focused, hurting the loot gameplay compared to previous titles and forcing always-on DRM because of it And with this game, you are forced to always be online, you can't ever make more than one city (what you start with is permanent) because the auto-connects you to other cities made by other players for some kind of meta-gaming thing (afaik you don't play or view their cities, you can just get benefits and stuff from them, like sending them aid or something). Plus it will inevitibly be riddled with DLC/microtransaction related stuff, and as such its going to play out more like a high-budget farmville (which does the same type of "your very own farm" type thing, and connects you socially with other people's farms), versus the true SimCity sequel we all want.
I hope it's nothing like SC4.
I suppose they have some cheats in the game. They better have cheats ingame.
Wait why? SimCity is all about how you play. Why would anyone seek cheats before actually playing and figuring things out? It's not like you can win or reach the end or anything.
And with this game, you are forced to always be online,
Wrong, its only a login at startup like Tropico 4 http://uk.pc.gamespy.com/pc/sim-city-5/1221798p1.html
you can't ever make more than one city (what you start with is permanent) because the auto-connects you to other cities made by other players for some kind of meta-gaming thing (afaik you don't play or view their cities, you can just get benefits and stuff from them, like sending them aid or something).
In Multiplayer you can join a friend's game or just into quckplay but in single player you have unlimited cities and you can make unlimited public or private regions. Also they already made a Facebook Sim City game they don't need another. I really hate how much bad and untrue information has spread out about the game, EA should be doing a better job doing culling this kind of info.
I hope it's nothing like SC4.
I hope it kind of is, modding-wise of course.
time to level some metropolises
Eww, gross, placement of individual skyscrapers @ 1:12. Srsly, not cool.
As long as I can build a big ass beautiful city then level it with nuclear reactors and tornadoes then yes.
I hope there is a sandbox mode
It's the fact that people flat out refuse to use Origin to play a game no matter how good it may be, and the only way they would be able to play it is if it were on Steam. Children might not have been the best word, but arrogant is.
Or people don't want to add anymore of this crappy software that does the same thing just to play one game. Personally I have Origin for a few different games but I understand the mindset.
Sorry, but I don't like being forced to use a client to play my games. That goes for all of them, including steam.
Atleast you're not a hypocrite.
I think they should make a game like Sim Tower, that game was a classic although I could always enjoy a good sim city game.
If it turns out to be a great game, I might pick it up. Origin isn't really my thing, and generally I buy stuff when it's on sale - I won't be paying 59.99$ for a game whether it's on Origin or Steam, but at least Steam has proper sales.
Eww, gross, placement of individual skyscrapers @ 1:12. Srsly, not cool.
Probably just hospitals or something like in Sc4, landmarks etc.
I really cannot wait for this, I've sunk so many hours into SC4.
It's the fact that people flat out refuse to use Origin to play a game no matter how good it may be, and the only way they would be able to play it is if it were on Steam. Children might not have been the best word, but arrogant is.
Not for me. I think refusing to purchase a great looking game that's on a different service is a bit silly, but not buying it because of the service is. That might sound strange, but what I mean is that if I'm choosing between two awesome games in this competitive market, and I see one is on Steam and one is on Origin, I'm more likely to go for the Steam one because that's just one more advantage to me. I didn't buy Diablo 3 because of the always online thing, and instead bought a different game. That's how it works for me. Basically, while a service doesn't completely destroy my want to buy a game, it definitely deters it.
you can't ever make more than one city (what you start with is permanent)
Is that confirmed?
Nevermind all the origin shit, not buying anyways: http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1190152
Is that confirmed?
No its a bullshit false rumor http://www.livestream.com/electronicarts/video?clipId=pla_0454fe10-94ae-487e-b883-35565ab4ce93 At 7 minutes in the Maxis dev says:
Yeah, I definitely have that fear of playing with a lot of people right away. You can create a region and set it to public or private, you can invite friends or play by yourself. You can play multiple cities in that region or multiple regions. You can also do quickplay for easy multiplayer mode.

Nevermind all the origin shit, not buying anyways: http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1190152
That is not right. Maxis them selves had said you can play multiple cities and regions.
Oh ok then.
That is not right. Maxis them selves had said you can play multiple cities and regions.
And I am sure that's still the case. The article is talking about multiplayer, not singleplayer or anything like that. People are getting annoyed over this because they didn't read the full article that is linked and believe that EA put DRM for the entire game. It's just multiplayer that has DRM, for good reasons.
Yes, you definitely need to be online to play multiplayer. It's not really called DRM though.
Exactly. I read the article that was posted there, and there is no mention of DRM at all. I think people are just exaggerating things, again.
I like Simcity2000. Haven't played much after that. However, I do wish that (if it hasn't already) you can posses a ped and look through his/her eye and can control them. I think that would be awesome.
