"Well good thing there is blur, bloom and lenseflares everywhere so you wont even be able to get a good look at the textures, right?" -Crytek
Crysis 2 looks better than many games out thre with the HD texture pack, just not to this extent.
The original texture looks laughable for this day and age. I mean shit, that's like pre HL2 quality.
It really depends on where it's used, they're not going to include 2048x2048 textures for a sign that's only used once behind something you can't get past, etc.
Tried it, looks great!
Speaking of that FakeFactory pack, weren't the world textures really good or something? But the hilarious models is what people have come to know it for?
and, the mapping.

I'm just looking at the latest fake factory version now (it's v12, and apparently it's very new) and I think his Alyx character looks much better now. But I wish he put that much effort into making the original Alyx look better while at the same time keeping the charm. Going to download and give it a try anyway. There are new shaders and shit too now apparently.
and has more than one colour.
And doesn't ban you for changing the color
And doesn't ban you for changing the color
They kick you (not ban) because you're editing the game's files, not because you're changing how the game looks.
They kick you (not ban) because you're editing the game's files, not because you're changing how the game looks.
People need to stop being dumb shitheads and realise this. Whatever it is that detects the changes doesn't differentiate between changes to the look of the game and changes that affect gameplay. It only knows you changed shit and that should be enough.

The thing is, they set the files to client-side on MP, when it should be server-side, so people don't edit the files to get 10000 damage instakill rifles.
Crysis 2 looks better than many games out thre with the HD texture pack, just not to this extent.
It benefits much more from the DX11 patch though. The tone mapping makes it incredibly vivid, especially on a nice screen.
I don't like the looks of this
Meh, Crysis 2 in DX11 seems to be incompatible with Windows 8 for whatever reason. First time I've experienced an incompatibility problem with this OS. So I'll have to wait for a patch :/
Believe it or not there is an Elite PC gamer mentality. And by that it's for people who think they have like the ultimate gaming PC. People who think a 560 Ti
That's what I have. :(
That's what I have. :(
Ditto.
No females in crysis 2, no need texture packs :v:
No females in crysis 2, no need texture packs :v:
do you play games with females only for fapping pleasure or what
Believe it or not there is an Elite PC gamer mentality. And by that it's for people who think they have like the ultimate gaming PC. People who think a 560 Ti is the best video card on the planetz. With games that actually include these kinds of things as an option, and it is indeed demanding, you get shit from people whining that their computer can't run the highest of the high. "SHIT OPTIMIZATION" "WHO CODED THIS SHIT" et cetera. It's rather common in the places I look since I'm usually checking out configs for games for higher quality. Sometimes it's legit, like with RO2, that game did not look good enough for the performance it required. But plenty of times people either whine that the game is badly optimized since they can't max a 2012 game on their 2009-2010 hardware, or it runs so fast that they think they didn't really add anything in the game. The best medium is to leave it normally, but then let users go into configuration files and let them tweak because the mentality is, "oooo I'm pushing it further than it's supposed to." and if it doesn't work well, then they know they simply pushed it too much. Seems like a better alternative. But that's my opinion.
And that's why Crysis 2's lowest graphic setting is called high iirc.
Too little too late. Props to the creator though.
this actually looks pretty decent instead of being shit overly sharp and detailed textures with no sense of composition which is what i'm used to from "HD" packs
And that's why Crysis 2's lowest graphic setting is called high iirc.
I can pretty much guarantee that is why
I like having HD packs like this, but I don't understand people who claim that the original game should have looked like this before, and that not making it look this good in the first place is inexcusable. Why would the devs waste time adding ridiculous amounts of detail to tiny objects that barely matter? The only way you'd really notice is if you put effort into carefully examining every texture you find, in which case you're playing it wrong.

People just never really paid attention to it as much as the other stuff (models, trees, water, skyboxes) so they didn't bother as much for Crysis 2.
