Someone needs to put this dickwad in his place.
The guy filming is a huge pussy, even the other girl started shoving the arab after he hit her but the guy was just standing there saying ''you hit her''. Stupid ass..
I wonder what would happen if he saw two guys making out... [editline]21st February 2012[/editline] in front of a mosque
do you think i'm inferior to this discussion because my avatar is a black man?
what?
It's a shame that people like these give arab culture a bad name. I'm sure plenty of people will be like "Damn Arabs!" now, even though really just some people take it to the extreme. However, this guy needs to learn this his belief is not everyone else's belief and that he can't force everyone else to follow his rules. He's not God, and if they will "go to hell" for their public intimacy, then why does he really care? I've never heard anything about religions teaching to attack people of other religions or beliefs, or anyone who does something not sanctioned by their religion. If your belief is true, then they will go to hell, fine, that doesn't affect you at all. Now you're just giving your belief a bad rep. Good work.
because racism is a lot more complex than merely "thinking that one race is inferior to others". Racism refers to a wide reaching set of possible attitudes and beliefs, one of which is the choices we make with our language when we discuss people. "sand monkey" is a racial slur against people of arab or middle eastern descent; therefore calling someone a "sand monkey" is racist.
But in the bottom line, racists must make those choices because of devaluing. I believe "Racial slur" as you call it was invented to insult a person based on their origins, not to actually devalue their entire race. "Sand monkey" is by the way a laughable attempt of an insult :v: and whoever interpreted it as offensive against his/her origins must have a really bad confidence in their heritage. I can't draw the connection between a "sand monkey" and an Arab other than that most Arabs live in countries with mostly sandy/desert areas. And I think most human beings know that we are related to primates. Therefore monkey can be applied to all ethnicities without being classified as racist. Unless you have a bad confidence in your heritage or ashamed of your origins, there's really no reason for you to interpret "sand monkey" as racist. An insult sure, but racist? Hardly. "Sand monkey" has nothing to do with the Arabian ethnicity, even in the way you look at racism. If I am correct it doesn't mean anything literally, but is commonly used as just as other insulting phrases.
"Discrimination" refers to treating someone differently in a functional capacity, like when considering someone for a job position or when dealing with them in your daily life. A comment posted on an internet forum can be prejudiced, but unless the comment directly affects the life of the person who is being referred to, it's not discrimination.
I can see your point and agree with that.
However, this guy needs to learn this his belief is not everyone else's belief and that he can't force everyone else to follow his rules.
I agree with this. However if being a tourist or even an immigrant in another country you should try and respect that nations custom, should they request it.
And then he got off because it's apart of his religion and we need to learn to accept them for what they believe. I hope the police rough him up when they get him, I really do.
He probably just realised he couldn't pay for his bill and devised a clever scheme to avoid it by going on a religious rant. Religious people do it all the time. It's like how here in Australia, Aborigines can pretty much walk into a store, take what they want and leave. And if anyone tries to stop them, they scream on about the Dream Time and Kevin Rudd and racism and stuff until you just throw your hands up and go "Fuck it, you win, take it I don't care any more!".
I'm curious to see what country this was in..
And then he got off because it's apart of his religion and we need to learn to accept them for what they believe. I hope the police rough him up when they get him, I really do.
No, that would be undue force. Arrest him for assault.
Man, if I ever saw a someone treating a person like that I would kick their ass so quickly.
I really don't know why everybody's getting so worked up about this. The guy is clearly a lunatic: he's wearing a skirt for crying out loud. He's merely using his religion as an excuse to tear somebody's shit up, as insane people do. He'll get arrested and put in a jail or a mental asylum where his bumhole will begin to resemble one of Saturn's rings, end of story.
As much as I respect the sovereignty and cultures of different parts of the world, his saying "You are in muslim country, you will behave" and "don't tell go out" like he has more rights than the people under question just pisses me off. I really feel the entire world, all of Earth, MUST remain a neutral ground upon which people practice their culture. It MUST NOT be segregated into areas like Christian/Muslim countries. Dividing the world because of religion is a huge disgrace and disrespectful to Humanity as a whole.
This. So much. Thanks, that was actually... beautiful.

Remove religious divide and people will look for other things that makes them different from other people. Apologies. I'm being cynical.
I can understand that Malaysia don't want public displays of affection, but hostels are private property and that guy was way in the wrong.
a lot of stupid stereotyping going on in this thread. [editline]21st February 2012[/editline]
Also, there is a high chance that the crazy arab guy is an Iranian or Iraqian and is a Jafari Muslim, if you compare Jafari and Shafi'i, the difference is like night an day, the Jafari's are rough, brute and most Muslims will say they go against the laws of Islam. When they see someone doing wrong, its brute force straight away.
mm i do love me some bigotry.
found it: http://www.tokobakso.com/video/youtube-lelaki-arab-pukul-receptionist-di-kota-kinabalu.html
Wow what a fuckknob

If I was there, I would have made fine use of that fire extinguisher on the wall.

Labelling it as a "petty insult" that has no relevancy to his race is awfully foolish as displayed above.
who cares about what is racist or not. did nobody see he smashed the woman in the face???
Hey, hey, hey, you watch yourself. No one disturbs the mandatory thread derailment. Please, continue with the racism argument.
It's an important part of learning our evolution and you can't let petty things like racism (or should I say, the wrong interpretation of racism) get in the way of that. It's purely scientific and has no intentions of insulting. (Ofcourse excluding all "scientists" who think some races are of less worth and are desperately trying to back it up with false facts about evolving) Also less evolved is incorrect. I would say differently evolved, depending on natural causes like climate, physical activity, body functions, etc. We ARE in fact different no one can deny that, and I'm not saying that because I'm racist or because I'm trying to insult somebody. The difference is there for a perfectly natural reason and there's nothing wrong with that. I think your struggle to distance yourself from 'racism' is clouding your ability to think objectively.
I'm pretty sure he's playing dumb tbh. Labelling it as a "petty insult" that has no relevancy to his race is awfully foolish as displayed above.
I'm not. I'm trying to look past the question of racism and figure out why the person should be offended in the first place. As I said before, unless they have a bad confidence in their origins/heritage there's really no reason for them to take offense. But don't get me wrong, I don't think the insult is by any means right or should be accepted. I just really don't think insults based on origin are the same thing as believing one race is superior to another.
I just really don't think insults based on origin are the same thing as believing one race is superior to another.
Racism is not exclusive to racial superiority
It may be so but you have to agree with that the gap between a nearly innocent joke and racial supremacy is huge.
the ones who start racial arguements just want people to bring up the monkey story. Just terrible. Besides this has nothing to do with racism. Just shitty arab/islamic laws.
No, that would be undue force. Arrest him for assault.
Some people just need to get their ass kicked and they smarten up.
It may be so but you have to agree with that the gap between a nearly innocent joke and racial supremacy is huge.
you don't have to be a racial supremacist to be racist. I'm not arguing that the dude who used the term "sand monkey" is a full-on card-carrying racial supremacist, I'm arguing that he's a goddamn racist in one capacity or another based on the fact that he used an established racial slur.
That girls boyfriend who was recording it is a fucking pussy. He just stood there and filmed while a guy smacked his girlfriend in the face with a bag.
Why does the title have to mention that he was Arabic? If it were a caucasian then the title would say "YouTube video shows angry man attacking couple over public kiss".
