John Smedley is a piece of shit. I wish he would just leave SOE and let someone who actually cares about the games take over. That being said HOLY SHIT PLANETSIDEEE
RPS has been on the Planetside train for a while. In fact, one of their earlier pieces damn near made me pick it up. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2008/09/05/planetside-the-1/ I may pick this up when it comes out. EDIT: Damn it. What a waste of my 1000th post. Oh, well.
Forgive me, but I don't know what Planetside is. I've heard of it, but dunno what it is.
I was always a fan of the Elmos, but played as the barnies. There was a certain elegance to the tactics behind a good barney attack. The magrider, if wielded by a good commander, were head and shoulders above the other armored vehicles. If the commander or the teams running them were unskilled however, things would go so very poorly. They had little in the way of natural durability to fall back on when compared to the other armor. They made engagements interesting. I think I'd play Elmo next go around. I loved their infantry hardware and would collect it whenever I had the chance. But I remain uninterested in the brute force tactics behind the NC.
NC had the best air based squads, I remember doing tandem reaver runs on tank columns. We would literally fuck up an entire column of tanks, like 10 - 15 of them all in one go.
Forgive me, but I don't know what Planetside is. I've heard of it, but dunno what it is.
That means you're too young sadly.
It was released in 2003, jesus christ. That's 8 years ago... I remember playing beta like it was just yesterday. I feel old now.
Fuck yes, I loved Planetside. I could go on for hours about all the incredible experiences I've had in that game.
It's sad because I found Planetside for the first time back when the reserves program first started. I had a blast raiding other bases with dozens of others, all of us divided into squads and divisions (Though I wouldn't say we had enough of us to really call it that...) Yet even in the largest raid I had ever participated in, everyone kept saying that other raids were 3 to 4 times larger (like 300 to 400 people) I'll never get to know what that was like :frown:
Guild Wars.
And Guild Wars 2.
Terran Republic REPRESENT
TR in the house. Let's face it, they had the coolest looking BFRs. Oh! What happened to Gestapo?
It's sad because I found Planetside for the first time back when the reserves program first started. I had chosen one of the small fliers. We all entered the portal file and row pretty much on the high-CR's command. But my computer was so slow, by the time I finished loading it was already over. :'(
saying the TR has the nicest BFRs is like saying they have the nicest pieces of shit (btw they're not in planetside: next)
Guild Wars.
guild wars was mostly instanced
guild wars was mostly instanced
And Guild Wars 2 will be open world, :science: But, back on topic, I got a trial to planetside about a year ago, and it was so much fun, even if it was somewhat deserted. People told me that it used to be 4 to 8 times bigger than it was, and I can only imagine the kind of warfare that went on. I played that trial as much as I could, and I logged at least 50 hours in those 14 days. I cannot wait for this game.
For Land. For Power. Forever. NC Emarald!!!! I started sometime after Core Combat. I remember battles where people were fighting to just cross a bridge. You'd be there for an hour just to cross a bridge. CRAZY BATTLES.
I'm really starting to regret not picking up the first one ages ago now. From what I'm reading it sounds even more awesome than I thought it was.
