"No new projects". If they've been working on it for 5 years, it isn't exactly a new project, is it? Not really trusting the source, or any of this for that matter, but just because it says there aren't any new projects doesn't mean EP3 wouldn't show.
This is what denial sounds like.
What? DNF was a clusterfuck of completely different studios with completely different ideas and transactions between studios and engines that were everything but smooth, and in the end Gearbox had to take the mess and somehow stitch it together to some sort of monstrosity that attempted a lot but went through with nothing. Completely different situation.
From what I hear it was mostly done by the end, gearbox just had to glue some things together and patch up the seams.
You know what would be brilliant If they just... released HL3 in the wild during E3. No advertising. No anything. Stores would just get it, get an MSRP, and it would just show up as a small little thing on Steam, no screenshots even. You know, as some kind of market experiment. Because that seems like something Valve would do. I feel like it'd make HL3 seem amazing, even if it ends up being just decent.
The wording they used was no HL3, not no Ep3. Or they might just be lying so we get a surprise at E3
The wording they used was no HL3, not no Ep3. Or they might just be lying so we get a surprise at E3
dude just accept it
dude just accept it
people will sensationalize anything just look at the mayan calendar
Guys, they said "NO NEW PROJECTS". So EP3 isn't suddenly going to be announced as HL3.
My hope died 2 years ago.
Guys, they said "NO NEW PROJECTS". So EP3 isn't suddenly going to be announced as HL3.
was thinking the same thing no "new" projects wasn't ep3 already in development.
They don't want to lie to their fans, but they don't want to tell us the truth.
was thinking the same thing no "new" projects wasn't ep3 already in development.
:O!!!
was thinking the same thing no "new" projects wasn't ep3 already in development.
No, stop trying to find a loophole for false hope.
was thinking the same thing no "new" projects wasn't ep3 already in development.
you're just going to get your hopes smashed again if you tell yourself this.
I have high hopes for Valve...I know they're going to announce it one day before I die. Won't you, Valve? Won't you?
people should stop saying this is like DNF, there's a difference here 1. HL3/EP3 hasn't changed developers 2. It's either never going to come out, or it's going to be amazing when it does
you're just going to get your hopes smashed again if you tell yourself this.
to be honest I don't give 2 shits, just pointing out the logical possibility.

I've been thinking about this, what if valve made some huge mistake in the past that erased all of the progress of hl3, but since they never announced it, they just had to start over from scratch, without anyone outside of valve knowing. Years of work wasted, and they can't tell anyone, just start over.

Just wanted to say HL2 was announced in 2003 released in 2004 EP3 might be released in 2013 and most valve titles announced at E3 always come out the year after
Hey guys here's an idea. Let's not care about Episode 3. Clearly Valve is either A) Not interested in doing a continuation despite them being all for the idea of episodic gaming. or B) Doesn't care about the fan base as much as you had hoped and are really just fucking with us on purpose while EP3 lies in a vault yet to be released because Gabe really meant it when he said he'd delay the game every time someone made a fat joke about him. Last I checked, those jokes are still being made today.
reminded me of this for some reason http://www.1up.com/news/bethesda-plans-elder-scrolls
They could easily be teasing and then just announce it to troll everyone [sp]I'm fully aware this won't happen I'm just trying to stay optimistic[/sp]
surely if you don't care anymore then it's working? When it does eventually come out you'll be all "meh" and then play it and find it even more awesome than someone who has been hyped up to beleive it's the best game ever.
The longer they wait the higher the expectations become. They're not going to be able to satisfy people's expectations if they wait any longer.
To be fair you have to fuck up pretty bad for most people to be willing to admit that something did not live up to its hype, at least while the game is still new. EP3 being underwhelming probably wouldn't hurt the game's sales that much and while it may tarnish their reputation a bit I get the feeling Valve doesn't see much of a future in Half Life.
They don't want to lie to their fans, but they don't want to tell us the truth.
They're not lying but they're not being honest.

Has Valve ever announced anything at E3? I can't remember many?
