Backed by a conservative billionaire, a cadre of top Republican strategists are considering a hard-line attack on President Obama timed to disrupt the Democratic convention. The strategists wrote that they are preparing to “do exactly what John McCain would not let us do”—which includes a blitz of television ads linking Obama to the incendiary comments of his former pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright. The $10 million project, known as the Ricketts Plan, calls for hiring an “extremely literate conservative African-American” to accuse Obama of lying in presenting himself as a “metrosexual, black Abe Lincoln,” rather than a radical supporter of “black liberation theology.”
Bell just rang will add more to the article in a bit.

Source? This article doesn't even look all that well written so I am inclined to believe this isn't quite the truth.

These strategists are disgusting scum. They are the human incarnation of what is wrong with politics today. Rather than focus on actual issues they blow $10 million on pure slander. John McCain didn't let them do this because he probably knew an attack like this wouldn't be constructive at all.
No one likes us, so we're going to lie, and pour money at the problem. That'll fix it :downs:

The sad part is that it usually does.
Oh look the Republican party being Republicans.

I feel really bad for the nice republicans:(
The guys who want to work with the Dems but believe in a more free market and privatization, or have slightly different ideas on moral values but don't disrespect others for having them different.
I hate it that the Republicans will bitch and complain about Obama spending money, then turn around and waste money on this crap.
