Footage posted online yesterday shows thousands of spiders "falling from the sky" in the southern Brazilian town of Santo Antônio da Platina.
Source: http://gawker.com/5982891/meanwhile-in-brazil-its-raining-spiders
Spiders often spin long, thin webs that work as parachutes, grabbing an updraft and flying away. It's way weird for so many and so large spiders to do it, though.
uuuuuughhhh. Imagine walking underneath them
Watching the video, it's not raining them. They're clearly on a giant-ass web. [editline]9th February 2013[/editline] But yeah, here's a spider ballooning. It spins a long string that is light enough to catch the wind, allowing the spider to fly. Sometimes, they fly too much and freeze to death in the cold atmosphere.
I'd be so paranoid. I wouldn't want to ever go outside with them out there.
I thought I had seen all the nope in my life already This just beats it all

yes, Im ready to go out.
My cat eats spiders
NOPE NOPE NOPE, THESE VILE BEINGS DO NOT EXIST.
Thank God this didn't happen in Australia. Even watching that video in the source freaked me out.
"Don't forget your full body suit, Jimmy, the weatherman said there's a chance of spiders."
Jeez Louise, that's certainly a sticky situation there Ryan. Just as well it wasn't raining fish; that could be classified as an act of cod. But in all seriousness, my sister would probably have a terror seizure if she saw that. Not that she has seizures or anything, she just hates spiders.
is having arachnophobia the cool hip new thing, like it used to be OCD and spamming "OMG PLZ FIX" everytime something was slightly crooked or whatever
Nope, a lot of people just actually have it. I don't see what's 'cool' about being terrified of tiny insects anyway.
is having arachnophobia the cool hip new thing, like it used to be OCD and spamming "OMG PLZ FIX" everytime something was slightly crooked or whatever
That is really fucking dumb How is pretending to have a phobia even slightly cool/hip I have the phobia and its really shitty, stupid brain making the rest of the body panic as soon as it sees a tiny little bug There are far too many things the brain has direct control over that I don't
is having arachnophobia the cool hip new thing, like it used to be OCD and spamming "OMG PLZ FIX" everytime something was slightly crooked or whatever
Or maybe it's just a common phobia...
"Don't forget your full body suit, Jimmy, the weatherman said there's a chance of spiders."
In Australia: "Don't forget your anti-venom syringes, Jimmy, the weatherman said there's a chance of spiders."
I don't have arachnophobia, but damn, that's for sure a lot of spiders. I wouldn't dare walking outside without a NBQ suit and a flamethrower.
Remind me not to go to Brazil.
is having arachnophobia the cool hip new thing, like it used to be OCD and spamming "OMG PLZ FIX" everytime something was slightly crooked or whatever
Its one of the most common specific phobias in the world.
Raining spiders, literally my worst nightmare of all time.
Watching the video, it's not raining them. They're clearly on a giant-ass web.
Imagine that web falling down on you.
Trantulhue?
I'm Australian, I'm pretty sure I can handle watching the video. Start video. NOPENOPENOPENOPE [editline]value[/editline] Yeah fuck that happening to me, I would never leave my room.
Thank God this didn't happen in Australia. Even watching that video in the source freaked me out.
Spider rain Austrailia edition, this time with spiders that can kill you.

That's really awesome! So, is this like anthill, but instead of ants with spiders, and instead of with hill, with a huge web? If only we had them instead of ants. Ants suck. Spiders rule.
