(CNN) -- More than 10,000 homes have been destroyed from an earthquake that struck southwest China, state media reported. The quake hit Yunnan province in southwest China Thursday evening, leaving more than 300 people injured, the Xinhua news service reported. Xinhua reported the quake as having a 6.0-magnitude, while the U.S. Geological Survey gave a figure of 5.7. The quake happened at 7:19 p.m. (11:19 a.m. GMT) Thursday, at a depth of about 10 kilometers (6.2 miles), Xinhua reported. Thirty people suffered severe injuries, and another 305 were slightly injured as of 1 a.m., relief officials in Yao'an County said. Tents, medicine and food were seen being distributed by relief authorities, Xinhua said. Approximately 4,500 tents, 3,000 quilts and other relief material was being distributed, officials said, according to the Xinhua report. Thursday's earthquake comes more than a year after a massive quake struck Sichuan province in China. The 8.0-magnitude quake on May 12, 2008 killed more than 68,000 people, left nearly 18,000 more missing and displaced 15 million others. It's good that it doesn't seem anyone was killed though, unless it just isn't reported yet.
Second major quake within a year. Woah. Sucks for them.
Take that you commies!
Thank god this isn't as bad as the last one to hit China.
I surprised no one died in this quake.
10,000 homes destroyed and not one fatality?
10,000 homes destroyed and not one fatality?
They're used to it. Chinese people gain immunity to falling rubble and collapsing rebar after the first four times it happens.
Did they evolve stronger bones?
They gained the ability to fly.
Did they evolve stronger bones?
Ether that or their bones are made of lead now.
I don't understand why people would want to live in a place or anywhere near a place where the ground shakes constantly.
I'd bet the relief camps offer better living standards than the homes destroyed in the quake.

Not a single death? Holy shit.. They really are beginning to become immune. I say we kidnap chinese children when their young and figure out their secret. All in the name of science
I don't understand why people would want to live in a place or anywhere near a place where the ground shakes constantly.
Weaboos. Japan.
I doubt no one died. China probably covered up the numbers.
Obviously it was north korea testing undergrounds nukes.
Well, I guess that means I'll have to suffer through another barrage of Dugtrio, super effective jokes. >:C
I doubt no one died. China probably covered up the numbers.
Why would they cover the numbers?
Why would they cover the numbers?
They just want to seem like they are capable to control the country.
Agreed, China should've punched that earthquake in the face and told it to fuck off. Instead they chose to do nothing.
They just want to seem like they are capable to control the country.
what? It's a natural disaster, you can't control nature.
what? It's a natural disaster, you can't control nature.
I just don't buy it. The Chinese are always up to something. The last Earthquake they didn't even do anything. We had to save their people.
Not a single death? Holy shit.. They really are beginning to become immune. I say we kidnap chinese children when their young and figure out their secret. All in the name of science
Let us dessicate them! :chef:
10,000 homes destroyed and not one fatality?
Their houses are made of wood/mud, so they are liable to be destroyed compared to most of houses, and the housing density is very high in China due to overpopulation, all the houses are all cramped together, so of course it would effect many many houses.
i'm currently in china for vacation and it's true, either only a few people or no fatalities occurred at all. i think all that fieldwork made them have skin of iron or something.
