For me Halo has a really good story. I read all the books(which are far better than the games) and they help alot with the character developments and plot. I hope odst has a good plot like the books do.
Agreed, reading the books sheds tons of light on back stories and the story behind the Halo series, like Engineers being the most kickass of the Covenant(eg. they built the brute choppers, they caused the first casualty in the human/covenant war, they help ANYONE who lets them do their job)
Really? REALLY? I thought it was obvious it was going to get good reviews since all these review sites tend to kiss the Halo franchise's ass a lot.
Indeed. The gaming press is so fucking corrupt, it's not even funny. Although it is strange to see Giant Bomb giving this game a good rating.
Honestly I'm not that surprised, since Halo games tend to be good.
I'm surprised he has more agrees than disagrees.
The gaming press just tries to tell people what they think people want to be told. Take Spore, for example; shitty game, but because everyone wanted it to be good the press smothered it in 5 star ratings. There are a few good reviewers, though; the guy who does They're Back for PCG UK normally keeps his own opinions, and the normal people who post reviews on shop sites. Of course, the normal people who post reviews on Amazon and Play will jizz all over this because loads of them are 12 year old Halo fans.
I'm surprised he has more agrees than disagrees.
As am I.
It cant be THAT great. I've played all halo games, and as before, multiplayer is all I care for in the series.
It cant be THAT great. I've played all halo games, and as before, multiplayer is all I care for in the series.
Why? because it's Halo? I agree that a large amount of gamers do overrate Halo, giving it more praise than it deserves, Halo 3 is a great game, fun singleplayer, great multiplayer but it's not without it's flaws, the singleplayer was dissapointing in some areas but it was fun and that's what matters to me. I think it should be noted that some people don't give the Halo series enough time to make a decent opinion, they'll play some Multiplayer and say the story is shit, the books are great, I've never heard anyone say otherwise, even if that isn't fully reflected in the games. ODST seems to be a very solid title that was made in just around a year, they finished the game around E3, if they were to add more the story would be longer and more complex, but that's probably it. I can't wait for the Reach Beta, but more importantly I can't wait for ODST tomorrow/or Tuesday if Royal Mail are slow.
I'm pretty sure only trolls think the halo games were BAD. It's well established that they're solid games.
Or butthurt PS3 Fanboys.
its halo [editline]08:36PM[/editline] So it sucks

Just because you don't think it's a good game, doesn't mean that the reviews are made up to get people to buy a game. Now, places like GameSpot are a different story, because we all know they only give good reviews to places that pay. :3
its halo [editline]08:36PM[/editline] So it sucks
go away smurfy
ODST doesn't seem to warrant a full price
ODST doesn't seem to warrant a full price
Did you play the game?
I kind of wish I pre-ordered it now.
Did you play the game?
I heard 6 hours of campaign and all it adds are the DLC maps which I only have the mythic pack missing
I heard 6 hours of campaign and all it adds are the DLC maps which I only have the mythic pack missing
I easily cleared halo 1 in 6 hours and halo 2 in six hours
I heard 6 hours of campaign and all it adds are the DLC maps which I only have the mythic pack missing
Did you even bother reading any of the reviews? They clearly said it was a solid ten hours long and it added all the H3 maps. Durr. Anyways, I personally like the halo series, the original raised the bar for the FPS genre, that's an undeniable fact whether people like it or not. Halo 2 wasn't as good as the first but it was still solid and good in it's own right, Halo 3 had a disappointingly short singleplayer but was great while it lasted and the multiplayer was the best. Halo Wars kind of misses the flavor of halo but is still a fair game (not worth 70$ though). Looking forward to ODST's imminent release.
:eng101:
I hope you're right, but somehow I doubt it.
I hope you're right, but somehow I doubt it.
You could always just rent it if you aren't sure on buying it you know.
IGN has been saying that it's five to six hours long. This saddens me.
I'm not surprised of the reviews, all of the halo games (except halo wars) get lots of praise.
Honestly I'm not that surprised, since Halo games tend to be good.
You mean, 'Halo games suck reviewer's dick into getting high scores'. Seriously, Halo is just another run-of-the-mill shooter, there's nothing great about it, it's just all the fanboys hyping it up, like what happened to MGS4.

I doubt you played them because you pretty much just parroted what other people have said (overhyped, generic, fanboys, etc).

NEXT! [editline]02:30PM[/editline] Seriously, I can't understand why reviewers get so hyped up. It's generic, it's nothing new.

The games themselves are fine. ...But the community...
They sent me ODST today, can't wait for tomorrow. :)
