• Medical marijuana advocates meet Florida ballot goal
A petition campaign to legalize medical marijuana in Florida has gathered enough signatures to put the issue on November's general election ballot.Just after noon Friday, county elections officials had validated 710,508 signatures — enough to force a vote on a proposed constitutional amendment to allow growth, sale and possession of marijuana for medical uses. The Florida Supreme Court could still reject the ballot language — and any vote along with it — but organizers expressed jubilation Friday that an expensive, last minute push at least fulfilled the signature requirements for citizen initiated amendments.
Source: http://www.tampabay.com/news/courts/medical-marijuana-advocates-meet-florida-ballot-goal/2162592
I honestly never fucking expected this that fast from my state; especially considering the views on it in the past. So many anti-mj soccermoms I know of around here that one has even tried telling me that "weed needles killed my friend" story Hope it doesn't get rejected
If I recall, one of the main guys behind this is from Morgan and Morgan (law firm). Met him once, really nice man. Ads around here for the firm have been mentioning something about this. Progress is good, I guess.

It's all the more depressing that Sensible BC barely made the halfway mark with our own decriminalization referendum. :suicide: But, this is progress. Fingers crossed.
Just printed off my Florida registration page to mail in so I can vote!
Oh, awesome! I remember signing for this thing. Glad to see it's getting put up for vote.
Hah, I signed the petition on the last weekend you could sign it for. I forgot all about it until some guy walked up and gave it to me wile I was waiting for some food I ordered.
It's only a matter of time, all is going according to plan..
They're going at this the wrong way. They shouldnt try for the constitutional amendment. Should've gone just for legislation
It's all the more depressing that Sensible BC barely made the halfway mark with our own decriminalization referendum. :suicide:
Well, Sensible BC got 200,000 signatures out of a population of 4,400,000 (4.5%). This Florida one got 700,000 out of a population of 19,320,000 (3.6%). Technically, the BC one was more successful.

Because imagine the shit we'd be voting on if you only needed 3.5% of the population in BC's ridings to sign off on something in order for it to be put on a provincial referendum ballot.

He was bartendering(?) at a place and met one of the Morgan and Morgan guys. A random person almost tripped passing by him, and he stopped to tell them "you know you can sue the homeowner for not keeping the laminate floor in safe conditions" and generally was an ass about everything he said. Or maybe this was the other Morgan :v:
Thank you Harrell and Harrell
