Facebook crashed this evening, leaving millions of users without access to their personal data. The site, which claims to have 1.23bn monthly users, displayed an error message to users who were trying to log on. In a rare outage, visitors to the Facebook website just after 8pm UK time were greeted with a message reading "sorry something went wrong. We're working on it and we'll get it fixed as soon as we can."
source
oh no
kicking the bucket
It was down about a week ago as well and came back up quickly. I don't think this is anything to panic over.
the world is ending
That awkward moment when I stopped using facebook ages ago and everyone else's panicking.
Fuck me, I'll have to actually be productive
Ha, tried loading Facebook and was like "wtf". Hit Facepunch next, instantly see "Facebook is down"
It was down about a week ago as well and came back up quickly. I don't think this is anything to panic over.
It's been down for the past 20 or so minutes, it's a pretty big global downtime for a huge site like them
Oh fuck, now where will I arrange my drug deals?
Oh fuck, now where will I arrange my drug deals?
text message like some kind of savage
Down for me currently too.
Oh fuck, now where will I arrange my drug deals?
Set up a system that involves moving products in supermarkets to other sections for messages. That's what I do with my dealer and people haven't gotten a clue.

How will I do shitty buzzfeed surveys and random profile quizzes and share them all with my circlejerk friends??
Oh man, how am I supposed to know how many people wished me a happy birthday today?
leaving millions of users without access to their personal data.
If there's anything that someone has to access on Facebook, they have some major security issues.
Oh man, how am I supposed to know how many people wished me a happy birthday today?
You can count one (more) now. Happy birthday!
Wonder if they got hacked?
I know facebook was breaking on me for the past two days. Maybe they tried to change the layout or implement something new and it crashed the site
Maybe they are updating it to add the dislike button :downs:
Wonder if they got hacked?
Nah, probably maintenance or some shit, though I don't use facebook and don't know how they go about those things, so don't take my word for it.
Nah, probably maintenance or some shit, though I don't use facebook and don't know how they go about those things, so don't take my word for it.
Well I'm sure as a multibillion dollar company they understand load balancing. So I doubt any routine maintenance they are doing, if they're actually doing that, broke the entire thing.
Wonder if they got hacked?
I doubt it. With how big Facebook is, unless something major cropped up then the closest someone would get to hacking is phishing. Anyway looks back up to me.
Oh fuck, now where will I arrange my drug deals?
Steam
its up again
I know facebook was breaking on me for the past two days. Maybe they tried to change the layout or implement something new and it crashed the site
yes because this is how website development works
How am I going to listen to the old women in my family bitch about how Obama's an idiot using someecards now
I didn't even notice it was down. :v:
Big websites and companies have a lot of moving parts. It's easy for shit to fuck up, especially at such a massive scale.
