Oh, i didn't know we lived in a theocracy, bigot.
Stating a fact about state constitutions makes me a bigot?
This is ridiculous. It's not an issue of policy, plain and simple it's an issue of human rights; it should transcend party lines. The funny thing is that, as much as all of these people are fighting gay marriage, I know that within my lifetime gay marriage will be legalized and we will look back and see this is as a case of people denying other people their civil rights. The people who oppose gay marriage now will be written down as bigots in the history book, which is exactly what they are.
I yearn for the day when "Seperation of Church and State" becomes a realized goal. I'm not bashing Christianity, but taking away someone's right to do something that does no harm to anyone else just because your particular religious book says it's wrong is bullshit
I didn't say whether gay marriage was good or bad.
You just said we shouldn't complain about things the majority voted for. Slaves shouldn't have complained while being whipped because it was making most people happy? Being the view of the majority doesn't make the law the manifest will of all people.
Good job Maine, you proved that you're just another backwards state. Pfft, Wiggles the ninja.
Stating a fact about state constitutions makes me a bigot?
I believe he was calling you a bigot based on the rest of your posts and simply adding it in there for reinforcement.
The bible says that homosexuality is wrong so i guess i can understand why christians dont want gays having christian weddings. But what about civil weddings

The people voted for it. If their legistature had made laws against gay marriage because of religious beliefs, then there would be a 'seperation of church and state' issue.
Having people vote on what civil rights a certain group of people can have is absolutely moronic.
I didn't say whether gay marriage was good or bad.

Bawww majority of the people in that state don't like gay marriage. As a conservative, I don't like the liberal policies in my state, but the majority of the people here still vote for them, so I don't bitch. Also, athiests need to realize that, just because they believe they're right doesn't make them the majority everywhere. The people have decided and voted. Now the losers get to bitch.
Quoting your fucking idiocy Thread should be renamed Boxes for Emperor Bigot
The bible says that homosexuality is wrong so i guess i can understand why christians dont want gays having christian weddings. But what about civil weddings
That's in the book of leviticus that it says that... and it also says that people shouldn't have facial hair, eat shellfish, and other ridiculous commands. Civil weddings are what they are going for! The state can't force a religion to accept gays into it, it's a private institution.
The bible says that homosexuality is wrong so i guess i can understand why christians dont want gays having christian weddings. But what about civil weddings
I think the whole system ought to be revised so that religious marriage carries no legal implications. A civil marriage can be had with or without a religious marriage through the state and no one will be discriminated against. (So long as people aren't marrying dogs or chairs) That way, if churches don't want, they don't have to marry gays, but they can still reap the legal benefits of marriage. As long as we're on this system, however, and churches don't even fucking pay taxes, they shouldn't get a say in who they marry. There shouldn't be any discrimination as long as they're two consenting adults getting married.
The bible says that homosexuality is wrong so i guess i can understand why christians dont want gays having christian weddings. But what about civil weddings
I was raised catholic. Whether you believe in God or Christianity or not doesn't change the fact that the bible was written and moderated by people whom were very much human and as such, in many cases, is WRONG. It takes a halfwit to disagree, not a christian.
Good job! Religion is not supposed to have us locked around the balls.
I don't know where you have been the past thousand years, but "Religion" and "Human Rights" are two things that never get along.
Yes I know... I'm just putting it out there. It's pretty damn unfortunate it's like that, but yes you are correct.
Emperor Scorpious
Fixed my post
The people are fucking assholes.
welcome to planet fucking earth
That's in the book of Leviticus that it says that... and it also says that people shouldn't have facial hair, eat shellfish, and other ridiculous commands.
Some people claim these are metaphors, I never understood how those are metaphors.

Who knew Jesus had his own army of trolls?
[img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/FDFx2.jpg[/img_thumb] Notice not 1 non-white person in this photo.
It's because other minorities have better things to worry about than the rights of other people. I blame rich white people with nothing else better to do.
Who knew Jesus had his own army of trolls?
Not Jesus anyway He's up there now with Buddha, Charles Darwin and that Spongebob guy, laughing at us. [editline]05:03PM[/editline]
I blame rich white people with nothing else better to do.
This quote can be applied to pretty much everything.

All im saying is if christians want to hold their religeous form of marriage for straight couples only, dont let them have a say in whether civil weddings and other marriages that allow gay couples can take place or not

Does anyone else just want to gun down that crowd of people with a high-powered machine gun?
"The bible. Fuck yeah."
Does anyone else just want to gun down that crowd of people with a high-powered machine gun?
Sounds good, but
Does anyone else just want to gay down that crowd of people with a high-powered gay?
sounds better. But
Does anyone else just want to gun down that crowd of people with a high-powered machine gun?
Yes
I don't complain about liberal laws because that's what the majority vote in here. The pro-gay marriage people in Maine shouldn't complain because it's what the majority voted.
So you're saying that you can't complain if the majority agrees with something. So the Germans who didn't vote the Nazis in in Germany shouldn't of complained because hey, the majority of the country voted for them. :godwin:
