• Duterte faces nationwide revolt over drugs war after killing of schoolboy sparks outrage
    36 replies, posted
Horrifying image of a schoolboy being dragged to a violent death in a dirty alleyway has galvanised the Philippines against a brutal state-led war on drugs that has killed over 12,500 people in the last year. For a nation now largely immune to the bloodied corpses of alleged small time drugs users and dealers dumped on the streets, the graphic reports of the final moments of Kian Delos Santos, 17, who was allegedly shot three times by undercover police officers, have been too much to bear. His killing last week has united the public, senior politicians and the Catholic Church into the most significant sweep of mass protests since President Rodrigo Duterte pushed for a savage crackdown on drugs after his election last June. Most of the 12,500 casualties have been killed by masked assassins. An estimated 3,500 have been killed in police shoot-outs, which officers often claim were self-defence.

In the case of Delos Santos, the police initially claimed he had fired first. But their story was contradicted by witnesses and CCTV footage that showed the teenager being dragged down alleyways into a dead-end corner where he was asked to run with a gun, and (was) shot when he did. He was heard screaming “Please can I go home, I have school tomorrow.”
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/08/22/duterte-faces-nationwide-revolt-drugs-war-killing-schoolboy/ No words.
"I never could have thought people would abuse the power of government approved murder squads!" -Literally nobody And knowing Duterte's track record in saying the right thing in times of mourning I doubt he'll be able to quell the flames any.
Why would they even do this? Do they have quotas or some shit?
Why would they even do this? Do they have quotas or some shit?
They're trying to keep up an illusion that their crackdown is bringing in results.
Why would they even do this? Do they have quotas or some shit?
Authoritarianism and a healthy dose of "us vs. them" disconnect Humans can be no better than vicious animals when presented with a lot of power and a common enemy mindset
Who would've thought that sending death squads to roam the country killing people with no trial might make some people cross with you!
If 12500 people have been victims of this drug war so far, why are people caring about this one? It's not like people didn't already know that a lot of the the murders were a mite unjust, how the hell does it take a single one for people to go "oh wait a minute"?

The only reason people give a shit now is because there's a face and a voice to this particular murder, rather than the mostly poor and hard off people who've been executed by their own government. I fucking hate this shit. So many needless deaths, lives, and families being completely destroyed or ripped apart for fucking what? You can't fucking execute your way out of a drug problem. It's so fucking retarded and so obviously the most damaging and harmful thing you could possibly do to your community. Fuck, it's likely to create more drug dealers and users than reduce them.

They want inmediate solutions that target the most visible part of the problem, they don't want to spend resources on long-term solutions that target the source and the victims. People in my country have been asking for years to reinstitute the death penalty for sex offenders, rapists and thugs. They forget that the last time we executed someone on those charges, we ended up killing an innocent man.
Nationwide revolt? Where? Just bunch of people jumping the bandwagon on this case for aome unknown reason. Even the cctv was bullshit it was a different guy being carried. And witnesses who knew the kid was a known drug courier for his drug user dad(which is confirmed to be a user). And witnesses said that the reason he was shot was he was being asked to show to the police his stash of drugs. Went to his buried gun instead and got shot.
Maybe that "unknown reason" is people are fed up with state-sanctioned assassination? Just a thought.

[editline]23rd August 2017[/editline] I'm dead tired of seeing you come into nearly ever thread relating to Duterte defending him without any consistent source to back up your arguments and I would love for you to actually do something to make you look less like a mindless shill for a literal murderer.
Northern Police Chief Supt. Roberto Fajardo said they have witnesses and evidence to prove “that (Kian) is a runner,” then added: “Ngayong patay na siya, mabait na siya… Na-politicize na.” (Now that he is dead, he’s good… It’s all been politicized.) Fajardo said that according to Kian’s neighbors, “siya ay adik, pusher. Unfortunately napulitika na. Ngayon lumalabas, mabait na siya…Sana tanggalin natin ang emotions.“ (He’s an addict, a pusher. Unfortunately, it’s all been politicized. Now it’s made to appear that he’s suddenly this good kid…It would be better to take all emotion out of it.) “Let’s look at the facts,” the northern police chief said. Albayalde said Kian took orders from a certain “Neneng”. “Alam ‘yun ng father at uncle niya.” (His father and uncle know that.)
http://www.interaksyon.com/ngayong-patay-na-mabait-na-police-double-down-on-kian-as-drug-courier/ News sites have been backpedaling on this retarded shit after the 1st few days of outrage. The police are being probed by the senate and until we have a definitive answer im not replying after this. So sick of being called on as a duterte defender as FP seems to be intent on hating on him regardless of the improvements on the country. And as for kian HE DDNT DO NUTTHIN GUISE!!
And im dead tired of you people who think they know better than people who actually here.
Good thing the things I know of the situation comes from a philipino facepuncher, so I think I have some ground to stand on, yes??
I don't really understand why "faces nationwide revolt" is part of the article title. That doesn't seem to be the case, at least not yet.
Good thing the things I know of the situation comes from a philipino facepuncher, so I think I have some ground to stand on, yes??
With 1st hand experice on actual raids on drug infested areas?

So sick of being called on as a duterte defender as FP seems to be intent on hating on him regardless of the improvements on the country. HE DDNT DO NUTTHIN GUISE!!
Hello I'm a fellow person who is actually here. Let's start off by assuming your claims are true, and that this kid is a drug pusher and his family are drug addicts. First of all, that doesn't excuse the fact that we have CCTV captured video evidence of police brutality, criminal or not, this is not how the law should dispense justice. Second of all, the very same CCTV footage already proves that the criminal has already been neutralized into not committing harm, but yet we have this shady act of the policemen dragging this person into an alleyway and shot dead, with also other witnesses confirming this event actually happened. So what we get is the police stepping over the line and using lethal force when it wasn't necessary, a pointless death that could had been a conviction with a proper trial and due process instead. Now let's head back to reality with the fact that this 'police chief's' evidence is about as valid as the current evidence already broadcasted. I know police don't necessarily release information regarding a crime scene and such, but is that a reason to blindly believe their claims that this kid was not as innocent as he seems? Let's not forget 'Chief Bato' here is an obvious ally of Duterte, of course he's going to defend his butt buddy up the wazoo, and he's the boss, that's hard to contest with his fellow officers on the precinct who are doing their jobs comfortably with the president's full support. Either way a 17 year old kid is dead, a young man who could had done so much in his life, and had a family that loved him dearly, is gone, and we have 3 police officers here and an administration that will most likely let them slide easily. There's no excusing a death in this either way, especially with how much it's been boasted how much our police should care. Let's not forget that it's not just foreigners that have been against Duterte, it's been innocent people who most likely voted for the same man but got caught in the crossfire, along with people with actual human empathy.
And im dead tired of you people who think they know better than people who are actually here.
You're a moron if you honestly think what you're doing is right. No ifs or buts around it.
News sites have been backpedaling on this retarded shit after the 1st few days of outrage.
I forgot we were talking about the murder of a man over drugs? When did we have a drunken argument or some shit, because THAT would be retarded shit, not a 17 year olds MURDER.
The police are being probed by the senate and until we have a definitive answer im not replying after this.
"My country's murder squads work also fuck you I'm not replying to your obviously valid criticism of my country." I don't understand how you can see police execution squads preferable to the occasional junkie dealer.
Well just now I happened to see a news report on local tv showing evidence that he tested negative for gunpowder residue, so at least that's confirmation that the whole "he fought back" thing is a load of shit. Regardless of whether or not he actually ran drugs, the killing was unjustified. A 17 year old boy is now dead because of Duterte's policy and him and his croonies' disregard for human life.
