American soldiers discovered more than 4,990 chemical munitions in Iraq, according to Iraqi and US officials and previously classified intelligence documents, which may now be in the hands of Islamic State militants. For much of the duration of the Iraq War, which saw US soldiers open a military invasion against the Ba’athist country in March 2003 amid tremendous international outcry, US forces "repeatedly encountered, and on six occasions were wounded by, chemical weapons” leftover from the Iraq-Iran War, reported the New York Times.
Source: http://rt.com/news/196152-us-iraq-chemical-weapons/
Sounds like they're talking about UXOs.
Sort of surprised that this didnt come out earlier, given that everyone was saying "WHERE ARE THE WMDs YOU TOLD US ABOUT BUSH???" after the initial invasion.
Is RT the only source?
Is RT the only source?
The original is a NY Times article.

I don't know if White Phosphorous and Mustard Gas are WMD's since they aren't that effective and white Phosphorus has a lot of applications. A keyword search of its cited report doesn't mention anything about 50,000 deaths either in the Iran-Iraq war from chems, just 5,000 deaths from various conflicts with Iraq where Chemical weapons may have been used long before.
I don't know if White Prosperous and Mustard Gas are WMD's since they aren't that effective and white prosperous is used for smoke.
White phosphorous.
White phosphorous.
Yeah I messed up, don't laugh at me :(

WHAT. They found WMD's all this time and they never said anything? What the fuck? EDIT: Wait, the source is Russia Today. Find me another source.

Oily paste oozed from a crack. “That doesn’t look like pond water,” said his team leader, Staff Sgt. Eric J. Duling. The specialist swabbed the shell with chemical detection paper. It turned red — indicating sulfur mustard, the chemical warfare agent designed to burn a victim’s airway, skin and eyes. All three men recall an awkward pause. Then Sergeant Duling gave an order: “Get the hell out.”
Granted they weren't developing an active weapons program, and Iraq didn't use chemical weapons against us, but wouldn't it have generated political support for the war if the press reported finding chemical weapons? The reason we invaded was that Iraq had a chemical and biological weapons program and had them stockpiled, but disposed in the desert raises questions.
Funny how they were supposed to get rid off those wmds, but as of now they are now in the hands of the most dangerous and well funded terrorist organization in the world. And all of this because western goverments could not handle the public outcry that they are the reason Iraq has them in the first place. The American government has even broken protocal on check-ups on victims of those who suffered from the chemical weapons.
