Title made it sound like it was going to be on every image, glad it's not. Sounds like a decent idea though
This would work until someone takes a screen-cap of the image in question and reposts it.
I suppose it would help with the occasional mishap over old pictures here and there. But making a screen-cap and reposting the image is really easy. Especially with Gyazo.
Its just a solution for lazy or not so tech informed people who want to fire and forget their photos out there. Obviously its useless as soon as someone reposts it. [editline]20th January 2011[/editline]
Many people come to regret the images they post to Facebook
Maybe starting to think if you really need to share everything, and being responsible about the images and data you blow out there is a good solution too, but thats not going to happen anytime soon.
This would work until someone takes a screen-cap of the image in question and reposts it.
So this is basically just as useless as the unprintable filetype that can be copy-pasted into Word.
Everybody knows everybody is just gone hack the protection out while they still can or make a screencap
So this is basically just as useless as the unprintable filetype that can be copy-pasted into Word.
Pretty much, welcome to the internet, we make workarounds of "uncopyable, unprintable, etc" shit in under five minutes.
How 'bout just not throwing your pictures around like there is no tomorrow?
Well, this will never work obviously.
No-one's going to install a browser plugin so the can view images. This is a stupid idea.
No-one's going to install a browser plugin so the can view images. This is a stupid idea.
and no one is going to pay good money to encrypt it either
No-one's going to install a browser plugin so the can view images. This is a stupid idea.
I didn't think anyone would pay $10 for some text under their names. I thought "this is a stupid idea." But lookie here, someone paid $40 to give you the title "PQNY FUCKER"
Good concept, horrible idea that can be workarounded in every possible way you could think about.
They should make old websites die first. I'm still finding websites last updated in the late nineties. My philosophy is, if you abandon your website for more than 5 or 10 years without any changes it should get deleted.

Are "they" also taking you car if you don't use it for 5-10 years?
"Many people join social networks because of social pressure," said Prof Backes. "They tend to post everything on the first day and make themselves naked on the internet."
does he mean "naked" as in nude pictures or "naked" as in information everywhere
does he mean "naked" as in nude pictures or "naked" as in information everywhere
Naked as in everyone knows everything about you because all your information is out.
This would work until someone takes a screen-cap of the image in question and reposts it.
What goes on, stays on.
No regrets!

Surely if you are posting an image you want to expire you should not be posting it in the first place?
