Elizabeth Escalona, 23
23? holy shit she looks at least 30
Yea no.
For older people, yes, it'd practically be a life sentence, but if Escalona was sentenced in Canada, she'd be out in her 40s where there'd still be a risk of her re-offending, same crime or not.

Not just shove people into cages and hope for the best when they come out. That's the reason the US's justice system is abysmal.
23? holy shit she looks at least 30
She has 4 other kids. This is the result of bad parenting.
I literally have no sympathy for the woman, what she did was totally out of order.
Wow....I just don't understand whats wrong with these people -___-... What she had done was completely cruel...
I have a little bit of sympathy, Ask any parent (I'm not one) and they will tell you, Raising kids that age is a nightmare, Add in 3 others. And it can drive them to stuff like this.
Finland's justice system would have given her a few months to a year max, I bet. Way too lenient over here.
Our justice system protects criminals and forgets victims.
23 years old with five kids...I think we have a clue as to why this happened. We aren't in ancient times, if you have five kids by 23 you better have a damn good reason.
And it can drive them to stuff like this.
It can drive a mentally unstable person to it, maybe.
"The young girl had broken bones, brain swelling, swollen intestines and extensive bruising after the incident.
'Any parent' doesn't do this "over a potty training issue."
A 23 year old mother of 5... wow
a 5 year old mother of 23

Some people should not acquire kids under their care.
It's a shame Canada's life sentence is a maximum of 25 years.
25 years doesn't seem like an entire life, it should be renamed to "max sentence".
It can drive a mentally unstable person to it, maybe. 'Any parent' doesn't do this "over a potty training issue."
well, obviously this wasn't the only thing that caused this. We're talking 5 kids, you get no sleep because it wants feed/w.e at 1 am, and again at 3. And she also has frustrating difficulties with the other stuff.

"Frustration" doesn't lead to putting your 2 year old into a coma.

So where is sanius/dori and thisispain to defend this waste of flesh somehow?
good, no 2 year old should have that happen to her over such a trivial thing
No one should be beaten so senseless you get put into a coma in the first place.
