With unlimited funds at his fingertips, police say Page went on a gambling bender, hitting up at least three casinos, including the MGM Grand and Motor City. By the time his bank, Bank of America, figured out what was happening, he had reportedly withdrawn and gambled away $1.5 million. Now that his luck has run out, Page has been convicted of theft of bank funds totaling $1.5 million and faces up to 15 months in prison, according to Local 10. He's due for sentencing on June 27. Cases like Page's aren't entirely unheard of. Back in 2008, a University of Missouri ATM started spitting out $20 bills instead of $10 bills. A line of students waiting to cash in on the "free money" wrapped all the way to the door, a student told the school's newspaper. Mark Henricks of Bankrate.com spoke with representatives from Diebold, a leading manufacturer of ATMs, who told him mistakes on ATMs are rare but can usually be traced back to a human error. Another major cause is not keeping up with proper maintenance on the machine. what a terrible, selfish waste.
You asked for it.
Get $1.5 Million and you...gamble with it?
Get $1.5 Million and you...gamble with it?
ye man you can get the jackpot!!
This man gets the opportunity that everyone wants, and he trys to get more? What a greedy fuck.
I remember when I got two cokes from a vending machine instead of one, I guess that's as close I'll get to feeling like this man. I wonder what he'd do if he ever won the jackpot and won that amount, just gamble it away?
15 months for $1.5 million? That doesn't sound *too* bad for the guy.
Somebody gambles the banks money and gets jail time. Interesting reversal.
Somebody gambles the banks money and gets jail time. Interesting reversal.
And of course bankers gamble with pretty much everyone's money and get away with it.
This man gets the opportunity that everyone wants, and he trys to get more? What a greedy fuck.
If I had that chance I'd buy so many fucking games on steam in a heart beat

I'm curious as to how a single ATM was stocked with over $1.5 million. If I'd gotten that much out of one, the first two things I would've done was buy a house and a DeLorean.
For some reason it's hard to comprehend why this is illegal. It's the ATM's fault, and no one else would not do the same :v:
For some reason it's hard to comprehend why this is illegal. It's the ATM's fault, and no one else would not do the same :v:
because you're stealing the banks money
what if he won more, would he only have had to give back the 1.5?
because you're stealing the banks money
Well yeah, that obviously makes sense. But for some reason it just didn't make sense to me. I don't know.
For some reason it's hard to comprehend why this is illegal. It's the ATM's fault, and no one else would not do the same :v:
Report it to the bank and they may give you a pat on the back. That's worth more than 1.5 million dollars. If the person patting you on the back made everything into pure gold.
what if he won more, would he only have had to give back the 1.5?
Win another 1.5 mil, give back the first 1.5 so no jail time :v:
Get $1.5 Million and you...gamble with it?
Idiot. Could had get 1.5 million hookers instead.

Quite frankly I would've just told the administrator of the ATM that it broke and gave them the money back. Not worth the risk.
This man gets the opportunity that everyone wants, and he trys to get more? What a greedy fuck.
What if he had a gambling addiction?
what a terrible, selfish waste.
He's going to a comfy white collar prison, he's gonna be happy. At least i think so.
"DON'T MISS: How one man moved to the wilderness and turned his back on money >" fuck this guy i wanna read about a mountain man
And of course bankers gamble with pretty much everyone's money and get away with it.
Because banks don't work without money of their own. By investing deposits, they can make gains to allow them to continue operating. What would happen if the bank only had money that was deposited, and everyone withdrew? [editline]16th June 2012[/editline]
And of course bankers gamble with pretty much everyone's money and get away with it.
Also, it's not like they will lose your money. Your deposit is insured, so you can't lose it.
Maybe he was trying to launder it in some way?
He's going to a comfy white collar prison, he's gonna be happy. At least i think so.
what the fuck are you talking about lol i was referring how he wasted 1.5 million dollars entirely on a casino, when he could've at least tried to do a little good with the money.
