• Man Goes On Casino Bender After An ATM Let Him Take Out Unlimited Cash

I don't think it's fair on the guy to punish him for this. It's the banks fault if they can't make sure their ATM's work. If I went to withdraw money from MY account, and I could withdraw mass amounts of money that I didn't have, I would.

He took money that didn't belong to him, and he did it knowingly.
what if he won more, would he only have had to give back the 1.5?
By the time he won something he would only win a small amount of cash compared to 1.5 million. If he were smart he would have never gambled away with it. Just spend it on more reasonable stuff

I wonder if he took out a smaller, more believable amount he could've gotten away with the bank just thinking it's a glitch.
I wonder if he took out a smaller, more believable amount he could've gotten away with the bank just thinking it's a glitch.
Probably not. They have to do a count of the money at some point, especially if it appears an error has occurred. Further, he accessed the atm using his account, so that's likely how they caught him in the first place.
Somebody gambles the banks money and gets jail time. Interesting reversal.
Except when you give your money to the bank they openly tell you that they will invest it themselves, whereas this man stole the money illegally.
15 months for $1.5 million? That doesn't sound *too* bad for the guy.
If he were white, he'd probably just get community service and probation, and to keep the money. :v:
only 15 months in prison for effectively robbing a bank? brb
If he were white, he'd probably just get community service and probation, and to keep the money. :v:
No, not at all.
All railwork DLC's.
Don't be ridiculous, there's no way you could afford that with only 1.5 million.
I like how the guy only gets up to 15 months in prison for this, but you can get over two years for drug possession. GG, American legal system.
god if that had happened I would be out of the country so fast.
Idiot. Could had get 1.5 million hookers instead.
$1 hookers? :v:
If only he understood that glitch gave him more money he would have ever won gambling, he would've been out of there so fast... only to be caught anyway.
Quite frankly I would've just told the administrator of the ATM that it broke and gave them the money back. Not worth the risk.
This, because not only does it feel good to be honest, but when's the last time you heard about someone doing this and getting away with it?
what a terrible, selfish waste.
the money was just created when he withdrew it anyway, woo fractional reserve banking
Get $1.5 Million and you...gamble with it?
Well it would look a bit suspicious seeing a guy walk out of a casino with $1.5 million in cash to spend elsewhere.
What an idiot... Why would you go out gambling with that much money.
how do ATM's even malfunction this badly though, with that much money at stake you would think they would spend some time making sure their money can't be stolen this easily.
this happened about a month ago here in ireland, loadsa people were gettin unlimted funds, altho the highest anyone cashed out was about 400 grand i think, which is still alot of fuckin cash. Too bad it was logged on their accounts and every dime has to be repaid.
This, because not only does it feel good to be honest, but when's the last time you heard about someone doing this and getting away with it?
Like 1.5 million means anything for a bank, and they wouldn't give a shit about your honesty. Heck, if i had to steal something, i would probably do it from a bank.
This, because not only does it feel good to be honest, but when's the last time you heard about someone doing this and getting away with it?
Well if they got away with it we wouldn't hear about it would we?
Didn't know ATMs held that much money in their cash storage. Must be because it's at a casino.
Like 1.5 million means anything for a bank, and they wouldn't give a shit about your honesty. Heck, if i had to steal something, i would probably do it from a bank.
Bad things exist, therefor we shouldn't be good. Excellent logic.
Like 1.5 million means anything for a bank, and they wouldn't give a shit about your honesty. Heck, if i had to steal something, i would probably do it from a bank.
Well you're just a shining beacon of morality.
For some reason it's hard to comprehend why this is illegal. It's the ATM's fault, and no one else would not do the same :v:
This is generally not theft, but unjust enrichment. Both are offenses though.
This, because not only does it feel good to be honest, but when's the last time you heard about someone doing this and getting away with it?
Well probably only people with a physihed CC could do it and get away with it :P
This sounds like the plot of one of those feel good youth movies.
Quite frankly I would've just told the administrator of the ATM that it broke and gave them the money back. Not worth the risk.
I'd do the exact same, I know it'd be tempting to go on a complete buying spree with the money but in the long run, it wouldn't be good sitting in prison for 15 or so months and the threat you need to pay the banks up running through my mind..
All railwork DLC's.
off da rails
I'm curious as to how a single ATM was stocked with over $1.5 million. If I'd gotten that much out of one, the first two things I would've done was buy a house and a DeLorean.
Yeah, personally wonder how that's possible too... Don't know too much about ATM's though.
