He does have a point though. Botched launches only serve to push away customers from the platform. Console games on the other hand just plain work. They don't have to deal with DRM that locks you out of singleplayer when the servers are down or your internet is out.
They don't have diablo 3 either though.
No they don't, I've never been locked out of a console game because of a developer's server problems.
Because you can't really have problems with a console. The game has been tested on specific hardware, the exact hardware you will use. It's nearly impossible to then still have big bugs like error 37.
The only time a console wins over PC is when the Developer buys into the Piracy bullshit and doesn't do a PC version. And when they do, in a lot of cases the Devs now days just go Oh, it's PC, it'll be pirated so don't even worry about it, just send it out like that Consoles have pretty much put everyone on a graphical and hardware ceiling, even for PCs. I remember when everything was doubling every couple of years, but we've been in this one set of hardware for half a decade now. Thanks consoles. You're like religion of gaming. Holding us back
(I love having racial slurs sreamed at me by inbred 10 year olds)
really? weird, I hate it
Holy shit, no it wont damage PC gaming. Jesus fuck its like they are inside Diablo 3's asshole measuring the anal cancer it doesn't even has.
Blizzard make a bad decision thus pc gaming is dead.
I also hate how people say iOS and tablet/mobile gaming will replace other types of gaming. Maybe in a decade if its evolved enough, but from what I see, its the worst gaming experience you could have.
I had friends who were totally xbox gamers, but loved the look of Diablo 3. After buying it and trying to play it at launch ALL I have heard is, PC GAMING SUX, XBOX NEVER HAS PROBLEMS. NEVER BUYING A SHITTY PC GAME AGAIN. So in that retrospective, perhaps it has damaged it. But I say, let the people who can't handle a few problems go back to their consoles etc. I eagerly sat around all night waiting and it was damn well worth it.
"Has 2 million people trying to log on in the first 2 minutes going to cost companies money?!" Yeah, PC is doing just fine
They don't have diablo 3 either though.
Using this game as an example.
game doesn't work on launch day because a ton of people bought it fuck this PC gaming shit I'm buying an iPad
What's not helping it is the lack of content.
if people didn't expect the servers to shit themselves at 12:01 then I don't know what to say
This honestly shouldn't be an excuse however. You know what's going to be fun? Not being able to play a single player game that I spent money on every Tuesday due to maintenance.
So I take it no one remembers Dead Island or Brink's releases?
hey guys i found a game for the wii called "imagine: party babiez" lol console gaming is doomed
Because blizzard represents all of PC gaming. And also because console gaming is so good (I love having racial slurs sreamed at me by inbred 10 year olds)
You just scorned one generalisation then made another yourself. I play online on consoles frequently, and I don't get racial slurs screamed at me my 10 year olds at all. In fact its never happened to me.
Holy God seriously? Shit loads of games get released with loads of bugs, including big titles, the fact that Diablo 3 is problem ridden on release won't change shit in PC gaming. Fuck you Kotaku, this is why you're bad.

By their logic, I could say the Xbox sucks complete ass because of the red ring of death which made possibly thousands of people replace their gaming systems multiple times. [editline]17th May 2012[/editline]
hey guys i found a game for the wii called "imagine: party babiez" lol console gaming is doomed
Difference is, the Wii was somewhat doomed due to the poor choice of titles and hardware power, and the next gen consoles coming seem to have a few things that are gonna make them pretty bad in the eyes of many gamers.
Oh boo hoo I couldn't play for a few hours I guess I'm such a fickle idiot consumer that instead I'll pay $60 and go play uninteresting games on a listen server with wiggers and children.
Because after you sell OVER 3mil COPIES YOU'RE TOTALLY DOOMED.
The entire Diablo 3 has been hilarious, mostly because a lot of people are trying to treat Diablo 3 as a singleplayer game. It's more like an MMO with an optional singleplayer, that can be instantly turned into a multiplayer game, or the other way around. Battle.net integration, auction house and trading between players. From an architectural point of view, it's more like Guild Wars than Diablo 2, everyone is instanced away in their own game but can meet up by grouping up.
Because blizzard represents all of PC gaming. And also because console gaming is so good (I love having racial slurs sreamed at me by inbred 10 year olds)
Yes because everyone in PC gaming are complete and utter mature intellectuals.
Yes because everyone in PC gaming are complete and utter mature intellectuals.
Mostly if you play the right games (not moba games)
Isn't Kotaku part of the Gawker network? Which is a gigantic network of shitty sensationalist news websites?
It seems they really turned the suck up to 11 after the iPhone 4 stuff.
It almost feels like gaming media wants PC gaming to "die" with their nonstop talk about it. No, it's not dying, for the last time.
Articles about PC gaming dying rake in the page views. That's why.
It's true though - no one can reasonably deny that PC games generally have way more issues than console games. Even though I still prefer PC gaming I'm not the majority - I can usually google any problems I have and fix them, whereas some people might just be unable to play some games. Diablo 3's problems aren't that bad though, they're mostly passing problems due to high network load and will probably decline quickly.
constantly bringing it up IS PC GAMING DYING, like no but if you dont shut the fuck up it will and it will all be your god damn fault fuck the media breeeeeh

My brother reads Kotaku. Then again, my brother is also a furry-loving, fanboy, weaboo dumbass. So yeah, that's Kotaku's audience right there.
