• Lib Dem MPs Urge Clegg to legalize Cannabis, Brothels and Euthanasia
Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg was yesterday facing calls from within his own party ranks to adopt a radical liberal agenda, legalising brothels, cannabis, and medically assisted dying. Liberal Democrat MEP Chris Davies urged Mr Clegg --who is leading a government drive to scrap unnecessary and outdated legislation -- to follow the example of the Dutch when it comes to such issues. "Maybe it's a consequence of our sanctimonious tabloid press, or an unwillingness here to confront the disproportionate influence of religious extremists, but when it comes to dealing with controversial issues like drugs, prostitution and medically assisted dying, the Dutch are simply more grown-up," he said.
Source: http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/politics/nick-cleggs-party-members-want-brothels-and-cannabis-legalised-14909899.html#ixzz0wTf23JbB Hopefully he'll listen to them, and stand up against the hardcore traditional conservatives.
Hardcore Traditional Conservatives? What?
The social conservatives that plague america. Social conservatism is proof of idiocy.
The social conservatives that plague america. Social conservatism is proof of idiocy.
No I mean the label is really redundant, he could just say conservatives
No I mean the label is really redundant, he could just say conservatives
oh, well yeah, that would be easier.
Turning the UK into a pretty chill place :350:
"Maybe it's a consequence of our sanctimonious tabloid press, or an unwillingness here to confront the disproportionate influence of religious extremists, but when it comes to dealing with controversial issues like drugs, prostitution and medically assisted dying, the Dutch are simply more grown-up,"
Quick, tell me something Dutch that I can do right now to honour them.
Quick, tell me something Dutch that I can do right now to honour them.
Nederlands zuigt ballen
Weed legalization reduces crime, brothels reduce disease, euthanasia reduces misery. what's not to want. oh right, religion. Fuck that.
Weed legalization reduces crime, brothels reduce disease, euthanasia reduces misery. what's not to want. oh right, religion. Fuck that.
Good news, Clegg's an atheist
Yay more rights, now I can smoke weed, fuck a bitch then kill myself. (probably not at all)
The social conservatives that plague america. Social conservatism is proof of idiocy.
this is the UK
Good news, Clegg's an atheist
then it's apparent that christian morals are driving him, or he's just doing his job by trying to please the religious.
The social conservatives that plague america. Social conservatism is proof of idiocy.
I agree, it proves that liberals are idiots and their harebrained solutions to social ills can only lead to further moral decay and superficial worldviews and lifestyles.
finally something is happening about cannabis in England, it's a damn shame the way it is right now.
Weed legalization reduces crime, brothels reduce disease, euthanasia reduces misery. what's not to want. oh right, religion. Fuck that.
This pretty much. Logically there is little to no reasoning behind not allowing weed, brothels, and euthanasia. It should be unconstitutional (and I do not say this lightly) to pass laws based on anything other than reason and science. For obvious reasons it would be intensely difficult for such an amendment to get passed and it would cause untold legal shockwaves for years and years to come, but I think in the end we might be better off for it.
Wasn't another of the more obscure Lib Dem policies to reduce the minimum age of appearing in pornography to 16?
Wasn't another of the more obscure Lib Dem policies to reduce the minimum age of appearing in pornography to 16?
Yes, in fact many people today openly support lowering the age for doing anything, basically. I'm not sure if it's child labor they want or maybe they just want to practice their long suppressed pedophilia. I'm sure pretty soon we'll be seeing 13 year olds getting fucked on screen in the name of art. Larry Clark already paved the way.
To be fair, before the mid 90s IIRC the age for topless modeling (not porn) was 16 in the UK.
To be fair, before the mid 90s IIRC the age for topless modeling (not porn) was 16 in the UK.
I thought it was 14 or 15.
The UK doesn't have a codified constitution :smug:
Yeah I was speaking more for the US in this case. I didn't really make that clear at all though. My mistake. The UK's weird legal system is too strange for my tastes.

Considering who he's in a coalition with, and how ecstatic the Lib Dems are at even being in power, I don't think much of that will be achieved within the term of this government.
Our prostitution laws are actually pretty loose. You can be a prostitute, but you can't solicit sex in public, you can't advertise and you can't be a pimp/madam. Basically brothels are banned to protect prostitutes.

Since alot of people randomly walks into people's apartments going "Hey, if I give you five bucks, will you suck my dick?" :geno:
I doubt people really follow that law regardless
Yeah, that's pretty lucky too, since it's always nice to get some practice before jumping into a serious relationship.
They best legalize euthanasia, It's not fair to keep somebody that can't move/talk/do anything alive. If somebody wants to die then damn well let them.
