Former world number one Tiger Woods is to be fined for spitting during the Dubai Desert Classic at the weekend. Woods, a 14-times major winner, was caught spitting several times by television cameras on Sunday as he returned a three-over-par 75 to finish seven strokes behind winner Alvaro Quiros of Spain. The world number three apologised for the incidents on his Twitter page on Monday. "It was inconsiderate to spit like that and I know better. Just wasn't thinking and want to say I'm sorry," Woods wrote. Officials will now write to the 35-year-old American's management team but are unlikely to publicly disclose the amount of the fine. "Tournament director Mike Stewart has reviewed the incident and feels there has been a breach of the tour code of conduct and consequently Tiger Woods will be fined," the European Tour said in a statement on Monday. Former tour professional Ewen Murray, now a commentator with Sky, voiced his displeasure with the world number three. 'An inspiration...but arrogant' "You look at his work ethics and he is a credit to the game and an inspiration to all of those who are trying to become professional golfers but there are some parts of him that are just arrogant and petulant," said Murray. "Somebody now has to come behind him and maybe putt over his spit (on the 12th green). It does not get much lower than that." Murray's Sky colleague Robert Lee is on the European Tour's board of directors and he was equally appalled. "Could you imagine Jack Nicklaus looking down at a four or five-foot putt and then turning to the side and (spitting)? It would never happen," said former tour professional Lee. "It's a lack of class, appalling. It won't be his legacy, his legacy will be that he has won 14 majors and...if he is not the best golfer who ever lived, he is very close to it. "But he should also be mindful of where he is in world golf and what youngsters think of him because whether he likes it or not, he's a role model."
http://english.aljazeera.net/sport/2011/02/2011214161212224620.html
I thought tiger woods was older than 35
i thought someone in china taxed a tiger or something misleading title
Does he really need to publicly apologize for spitting? Someone out there actually gives a shit?
The capitalistic american pig spit shall plague our lands, praise Allah.
Maybe we should all go over there and spit, they can't fine all of us right?
He spat on grass, who fucking cares?
It does not get much lower than that.
What a sheltered world some people live in. Obviously they've never been on a subway or bus. [editline]15th February 2011[/editline] Or China.
when I saw the title I thought of this: [img_thumb]http://static.howstuffworks.com/gif/willow/tiger-info0.gif[/img_thumb] I was disappointed. Title is edited no longer makes me think of tigers.
I don't think anyone is going to complain over a little spit.
I don't think anyone is going to complain over a little spit.
He had to apologise for a reason, as stupid as it sounds.
Apparently he's a bad role model because he spits.
Spitting...lol. This is like the least worst thing he's done.
He spat on grass, who fucking cares?
Its a disgraceful thing to do. What an arrogant bastard for spitting on grass and soil. Wheres your class!?!
He should know what he's doing since he is considered a professional.
"Somebody now has to come behind him and maybe putt over his spit (on the 12th green). It does not get much lower than that."
Oh, it does. It does certainly, but we shouldn't get into detail on that.
He should know what he's doing since he is considered a professional. Oh, it does. It does certainly, but we shouldn't get into detail on that.
I think if they prefer if they were going to putt over some of his jizz.
Let me see if I've got this straight - spitting in an Arab country, BAD...beheading a woman in public for having an* affair, OKAY.
Shows of what kind of sissies their whole community is made of. Seriously I have no respect for golfers whatsoever. I mean, football players, hockey players, rally drivers, athletes... they have some level. But golf players? Fucking bunch of snob pansies.
He's the new Micheal Jackson punching bag for the media.
whats the world come to, he'll be sleeping with random women next.
Shouldn't they fine all the football players that do this?
Shouldn't they fine all the football players that do this?
No, because football isn't for fucking sissies.
really
If he want's to spit, he should do it off camera. But really, a fine? He shouldn't have gotten a fine, they are just wanting his money. Maybe a stern warning or something like that.
he certainly is the spitting image of a golfer
What a sheltered world some people live in. Obviously they've never been on a subway or bus. [editline]15th February 2011[/editline] Or China.
rich people don't go on subways, buses, or even consider going to china
rich people don't go on subways, buses, or even consider going to china
I disagree, my grandpa's net worth is around 10million and he went to honk kong last year. He actually got back from Havana, Cuba just a week or so ago.
No, because football isn't for fucking sissies.
Golf: Swinging metal sticks to hit small projectiles extremely fast; spectators and people's houses directly in the line of fire; blimps Football: Men in 6 inches of padding giving each other asspats; blimps
Ins't a fine for spitting a bit much, I don't do it myself but I mean damn this is just nitpicking.
