http://edition.cnn.com/2017/10/17/politics/alabama-poll-roy-moore-doug-jones-tied/index.html
Democrat Doug Jones -- once thought to be a longshot in the Deep South -- has tied Republican nominee and former judge Roy Moore in Alabama's US Senate race, a new poll shows. The two are tied at 42% each among registered voters, the Fox News poll published Tuesday, conducted by Democratic firm Anderson Robbins Research and GOP firm Shaw & Company Research. Moore and Jones will face off in a special election to fill Attorney General Jeff Sessions' former seat December 12. The poll confirms Republicans' fears that Moore -- who campaigns on a theocratic, anti-LGBT message and has twice been ousted as state Supreme Court chief justice, once for refusing to remove a Ten Commandments monument and once for refusing to follow the Supreme Court's ruling legalizing same-sex marriage -- would be a uniquely vulnerable candidate in a state President Donald Trump won last year by 28 percentage points.
Democrats Almost Win A Special Election 5: Running Against An Anti-Rule Of Law Candidate Boogaloo
queue the massive amount of spending. the dnc hasn't really put any money in the race yet [editline]18th October 2017[/editline] better get quick on that tax reform then, if this seat flips democrat they could be screwed
The fact that Roy Moore even has a fucking chance disgusts me.
The fact that Roy Moore even has a fucking chance disgusts me.
ya but in a just world that guy should have been railroaded out of the state ten years ago and alabamans would be disgusted by any of his like who would embrace their state's horrible past but we don't live in that world we live in one where people are hypocrits and deniars
Will be pretty kickass if Moore loses though - not only would it demonstrate that there is a limit to how batshit the GOP candidate can be, but considering how hard the GOP has struggled with 52 seats, if they go down to 51 their agenda is pretty much dead until at least Nov 2018. And a Dem victory in motherfucking Alabama would be a big boost and a good omen heading into 2018 But that's why the GOP will most likely rally hard behind Moore
Roy Moore's quite literally a Christian fascist who believes that "Christian law" (very selectively interpreted, mind you) is supreme over the Constitution and the law of our nation. He's not a conservative, he's a radical religious revolutionary who wants to criminalize homosexuality and institutionalize Christianity into our legal code.

Thats worth about 30 percentage points in Alabama
When you see Dem candidates having to run against a corrupt bible thumper from the 1850s and still being tied, you know the outlook is glum.
When you see Dem candidates having to run against a bible thumper from the 1850s and still being tied, you know things are fucked.
In a state like Alabama, openly shitting on the constitution in favor of backwards religious ideals is a plus for a lot of people
Doug Jones is a legend. He's like the Jesus to the Satan that is Moore.

I'm really hoping there is a hardcore push in the weeks prior to the election to make sure Moore doesn't make it. And that our elections aren't fucked with. My grandfather worked for the county as part of the election committee maintain the machines, and he was basically in charge of them all. He on at least one occasion found where county officials had tampered with the machines and rigged them prior to an election. This was of course around 20/25 years ago. Interestingly one of the people that got elected as a result of this tampering was found a few years later having had a hunting accident. He was out with a bunch of other local politicians for a midnight hunting trip and managed to accidentally shoot himself with a shotgun apparently. Died right there in those woods that night.
I know Zedacon lives in Alabama with me, but the other Alabama FP members will agree with me in saying that if Moore gets elected, our state is fucking done for.
