Former CBC radio host Jian Ghomeshi has been charged with four counts of sexual assault one month after he was fired from the national broadcaster. In addition to the sexual assault charges, Ghomeshi is facing one count of overcoming resistance, meaning he is alleged to have choked someone in order to render them incapable of resistance.

He is expected to appear in court on Wednesday afternoon.
**SOURCE** Sorry for the small source. This happened in the last half an hour and nobody has caught wind of it yet. Sad to see this happen. They completely fucked over his show after he left.
Sad to see this happen. They completely fucked over his show after he left.
I think this is kind of a bigger deal than his radio show? There's a massive list of women coming forward saying he did some pretty fucked up things to them and I'm not going to pass much judgement till he's found guilty or innocent but if he is guilty I'd much rather see him in jail than have a whatever entertainment show continue...
I know it's only partially relevant, but [t]http://a.pomf.se/rqztpk.png[/t] Hypocrites are so damn infuriating.
Turns out that that article is written by someone else. She's talking about Jian and Gamergate, it's not Jian talking about Gamergate.
Ah, I apologize then. I was completely wrong.
his Q videos are great, i'm pretty surprised honestly
I really wish we'd see these articles only after a decision is made rather than when charges are made.
Sad to see this happen. They completely fucked over his show after he left.
He sent BDSM videos to his boss. Even if everything was 100% consensual that's more than enough grounds to fire him. Announcing when someone is being charged keeps the government accountable. If they didn't have to do this, they could whisk anyone away quietly in the night and never explain where they went or what they're being charged with (if anything at all).
lol who's to say they don't already
Because we're not in the fucking 1950's and the US government isn't fucking soviet russia. Have some awareness of reality, jesus christ.
lol who's to say they don't already
The very notion of this happening makes the general public angry. Maybe it does happen, who knows. But if you agree that it's wrong then there's no logically consistent way to also believe that charges should be kept secret until a verdict is reached.

It'd be nice if people were smart enough to mostly ignore articles with just accusations, therefore making them pointless to write, i didn't propose the government keep it secret.
