In a Google+ post, the company’s head of Chrome and Android, Sundar Pinchai gave people the impression that the next version will be called KitKat. This may not be likely and just a tease because as we all know, Kit Kat is a brand owned by Nestle. As it turns out, Google has formed a partnership with Nestle, which, in a way follows the company’s naming conventions to follow desserts: Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich, and Jelly Bean.
I wonder if KitKat thinks of this as mutually beneficial advertising or if Google shelled out the money to use the name as an OS version just for giggles.
Kvikk Lunsj would be a better choice of chocolate yess
That's a really catchy name. "Android KitKat"
I was going to make a thread about this but I'll stick it in here: Looks like the Nexus 4 price drop was stock clearance, and they'll probably launch a new Nexus phone very soon
There's no generic candy name (I can't think of any) starting with the letter K, so Google makes a partnership with another company so it doesn't have to break the sequence of names on Android versions. KitKat got a deal because its starts with the letter K. Two more versions and we'll get Android Nutella!
Its insane when you think about it that 1/7th of the entire worlds population has activated an Android phone. I know 1bn activations isn’t 1bn individual people but it is still a little crazy.
Only one thing on that is candy Everybody was saying keylime pie Also that distribution chart is so outdated it makes me cringe
It was just for the sake of showing the names. Anyway, Keylime pie actually sounds nice.

Did anybody ever skip an entire version of android?
I wonder if KitKat thinks of this as mutually beneficial advertising or if Google shelled out the money to use the name as an OS version just for giggles.
No money was exchanged, both companies just thought it would be p cool
Did anybody ever skip an entire version of android?
I skipped honeycomb when I upgraded from my HTC desire and I don't know anyone who has or had honeycomb so I am guessing I can't be the only person who skipped it. [editline]3rd September 2013[/editline] Also I am quite amazed this has been kept secret for 2 months, despite Android branded kitkats having been produced during that time.
Did anybody ever skip an entire version of android?
I skipped from 0 to 4.1 [editline]3rd September 2013[/editline] Actually, scratch that. 2.3 to 4.1. Used a Wildfire briefly
The real question is if it'll be the Hershey Kit Kat for the states
The real question is if it'll be the Hershey Kit Kat for the states
Going by the packaging on the Android.com website, it would be the Hershey one. Which makes sense, since Hershey makes them here.
